The Original Frank Thomas

As some of you may know, I've been corresponding with Frank Thomas, who played from 1951 to 1966 for about 5 years now. I have even had the pleasure to catch a game at PNC Park with he and his wife. Over the years, he has been collecting cards to compile all of the Topps sets from 1952 to present. I've tried to help him along the way, but I don't really collect cards much anymore. He recently had hip surgery and hasn't been able to go to the card shop that he frequents. He is currently looking for some help with his 2010 Topps Update set. If you have any of the cards below, he would appreciate the help. He will often trade other cards that he has and/or his autograph for the cards. He will also respond back with a lengthy letter. Thanks in advance for your help.

I have not bought any 2010 Update, But I just wanted to say that I too have written back and forth with Mr. Thomas (and even got a Christmas card from him). He is truly a great guy.

No problem, he was awesome to me when I sent a TTM. Best $5 investment I have ever made!! Glad to help such a great fella!

ive never ttm'd him and had no contact but he is a baseball standard and i will be happy to fill in the remaining holes on that list including the strassburg card considering i just busted open three hobby boxes of the 2010 updates last week.

Hey, Guys. You can let Mr. Thomas know that Tim from North Carolina let you know. I plan to write him this week to let him know that he will be getting some cards to finish off his set. Again, thanks for helping him with his set. Can you imagine having every Topps set, including Updates, from 1952 to present? Simply amazing.

Today I received a letter from Mr. Thomas and he was very grateful for the help that he received from members of The Bench. He only need 9 more cards to complete the 2010 Topps Update set, which I believe someone from here will be sending to him. He also said that he plans to put together the 2011 Topps Series I (and then Series II) set as well as the 2011 Topps Heritage set. So, if you collect those sets and wish to help Mr. Thomas, I know he will be grateful. He also just signed a bunch of cards for Topps that will be inserted into the 2011 Topps Heritage packs, so be on the lookout for those. Again, I am very grateful to those of you that helped Mr. Thomas.
