I have been a potential TTMer for years now, always wanting to do it and always finding a reason not to. I buy many auto'd cards and will trade for them too, but I never took the time to do it myself for some odd reason. I have seen a couple of nice returns recently, of people I want or need, so I decided to take the plunge. I wrote the letters, found the items, stuffed the envelopes and they will go out tomorrow.

I'll share with you who I sent to and how I do shortly. All were relatively short wait times for others, so I hope I am 100% within the next couple of weeks.

Hey Mr Mopar
Glad to see you are going to give it a go. I wish you the best and get them all signed. Let us know who you got when you get them back

Good Luck.

Always good to start with guys that should return the cards signed.

It makes it great to go to the mailbox. You never know when you will get them back.

Good Luck! I know when I started about a year and half ago. I fell in love with it. I was something different that collecting the same ole sets year after year and a way to take extra cards I have and get them signed!
I really enjoy it! Espicially when I get a return in the mailbox.
I have stuck with people I like or have really good returns.

good luck...and please share your experiences..that's why i especially like this site..

Good luck and have fun. Some advice...

#1. Read as many success threads and the TTM Address listings as you can, as they're a valuable source to find out who signs, how many they sign, and how long it will take. Doing your homework will net you a much better success rate in the long run.

#2. Share your success stories. Pay it forward, basically. The more info that's out there, the better this hobby is for all involved.

#3. Keep a log of them all-- the player, the address you used, how many you sent, when you received them, how many they sent back, and any other info you need appropriate (color and type of pen used, any inscriptions/personalizations, etc.). Excel spreadsheets (or better yet, Google Docs spreadsheets) work VERY well for this. It helps keep everything neatly organized and easily accessible.

Yes, I love this site not only for its trading but for its huge TTM database and the successes discussion

Pay Off!

In a blazing 3 days, Mr. Pat Gillick (who is practically a neighbor) returns 2. Unfortunately I really had nothing of interest for him to sign with a photo, so I sent a blank card and a custom someone on ebay sent me. I may try once more if I can find a nice team card or even a photo of him, perhaps a postcard or something team issued!!

Not a bad first return from the batch I sent on the 7th.

That is awesome! Yes, those Blue Jays team cards I got him to sign look great! I would try that next time. You may even be able to find some wire photos of him when he was running the show with the Mariners. Wire photos also look great signed.

A dual day for me, my first ever!

2 more in today at exactly 1 week. That is 3 of 5 from my initial batch and a very exciting day.

Bob Skinner - I sent him several of the same card from the Padres team schedule set of 1977. I had several and thought he might want some or could use them for other fans. I don't remember how many I sent, but I want to say 5. He signed and returned 3 and 1 unsigned, so it's possible I sent 4 and he just signed 3 and sent the last one back? I'll try to keep better notes when I send multiples in the future.

Warren Wells - This one was neat. Wells doesn't have any cards and finding even photos of him online is a chore. I was able to locate a team issue photo and printed a copy of it. I also included a small blank index card, about 2x4. I write him a nice letter and hoped for the best. Another member here shared the address after his success, so I was hoping I might have the same luck. Apparently he has not signed much in the past as evidenced by what ebay has to offer.

I folded the copy and mailed in a standard legal envelope. The envelope I got back was a about 9x11 padded mailed from Mr. Wells. I knew something special was about to unfold. In side was my sealed, but postally unused envelope with my items inside, signed. Also included was a nice 8x10 color photo from a printer, also signed. Mr. Wells hooked me up because I could not find a color photo of him from his playing days! Being a Raider fan, this was a great return from a really cool gentleman.
