Coleman had amazing stuff when he was with the Senators and the Tigers. A great fastball and command. To give you an idea what kind of talent he had, after the Senators drafted and signed him after high school in 1965, they brought him up from the minors in September that year. He pitched and started two games, winning both of them, and only gave up three runs. By the way, both games were complete game wins. Not bad for someone less than four months removed from pinning a corsage on the dress of his prom date.
