great return, Jim..Fregosi always seemed to be pretty underrated. He was the main cog in the big Mets/Angels trade that brought Nolan to California and one of the best hitting shortstops of his time. It probably did not help that he played mainly on some really stinky squads; but he is a great baseball man with practically a 40 yr tenure in the game. Bobby always speaks highly of Jim...

Thank, Chris! I can see why Bobby likes him. Fregosi is an excellent baseball man. He did a terrific job guiding the Angels in the ALCS in '79 and the Phillies to the World Series in '93. I always thought he was a terrific strategy guy. His teams were always fun to watch. These were qualities he brought with him from his playing career. I remember him as a player, as well, and he was the premiere shortstop for his day. Very under rated today.
