Then I broke down and spent $75 on packs boxes
($10) 4 packs Bowman draft, opened those, pulled a Bubba Starling Chrome and a Matt Vogel USA Blue refractor /199 as the only notable cards

($7 got these loose packs):
1 pack 1995 Score series 1 baseball (common Gold Rush)

2 packs 1994 UD baseball (2 common electric diamond)

1 pack 1994 Leaf (all base)

12 packs 1994 Pinnacle series 1 hobby (2 Museum Collection commons, Randy Johnson Tribute

8 packs 1995 Leaf Series 1 Hobby (all base)

5 packs 1989 Fleer Basketball-can't even remember who the rookies were in this one, but at a quarter a pack I figured why not

($20) 1994 UD series 2 Eastern region Hobby box ( Javy Lopez SP preview, and a handful of solid Electric Diamond parallells: A-Rod, 2 Piazzas, Maddux, Alomar, Whitaker, and Griffey, Ripken, and Molitor subset cards)
($20) 1997 UD3 hobby box (1 complete base set, a few doubles, and 2 Generation next inserts A-Rod and Vlad 1:11 packs)
($15) 1998 Bowmans Best Hobby box - 4 best performers 1:6 Travis Lee, Brad Fullmer, and Adrian Beltre x2 2 Mirror Image 1:12 Maddux/Wood, and A-Rod/Caruso, 2 Refractors 1:20 Jason Grilli and Jeremy Giambi, 1 Atomic refractor 1:82 Jaret Wright
($3) 1992 Action Packed Cooperstown Collection sealed box (1 card short of 1st set, 12 short of 2nd set, 14 triples, and a 24 kt gold stamped Bobby Doerr)

Should make for some fun busting today

That would be a great one to send him to sign. Too many common cards (Pacific, Swell) and not enough good vintage, inserts, etc. Those will be that much more appealing after he passes away too.

As long as you had fun!!! Sounds like it was!

Best regards,
Pete

Yes, I haven't busted that much in years, maybe decades. It was fun, but when I saw the pile of boxes I was hoping for more stuff like the 98 Bowmans Best, with some 2/box, some 1/box, maybe a 1/box+ inserts, those Fusion Mirror Image die cut are pretty cool, and it's always fun to see the refractors in those sets and try and figure out who you just got
