Topps Heritage High Numbers

I have a "what rock have you been living under" type question.

I don't buy much Topps Heritage. Not to say I haven't in the past. But it's always been the first release, never the high numbers.

My question is this. I see, for example, 2023 Topps Heritage hobby box. And I also see 2023 Topps Heritage High Numbers.
What exactly is the high numbers box? Is that another way of saying Series 1 and Series 2, Like the regular Topps set has?

Yes, it is series 1 & 2 of Topps Heritage. The high series has not been done for all years. They did it in 2008-09, and 2012 - 2023. For 2012-14 they did a box set of 100 cards for high numbers. The other years they have issused packs and the set is at most 225 cards. In recent years the last 25 cards are short prints. Of course there are inserts included variations, chrome, materials & autographs.

To my very, very limited knowledge I would compare the High Numbers set to Update. There are fewer cards in the High Number set than the “lower” numbers and more of the lesser known rookie cards for guys that have appeared during the season. I have no empirical evidence of this so it’s just my impression.

You are right. It's not a second series. It's an update set. It came out in December last year. I have noticed that some of the checklist sites call cards 1-500 the Heritage Series. Cards 501-725 are called the High Numbers Series.

Cards 501 -700 are regular High number while 701-725 are SP's.
