Topps High Tek

One pack - 40 cards
2 on-card autos

I received the following:

Disclaimer-- I am not even going to attempt to guess at the pattern or the pattern number. Most of the cards I received are in groups of 3 with several 'outliers'

High Tek is an acetate card that has a high def action shot on the front and a stripe on the reverse with stats in mice type (good luck reading it ...)

High Tek seems to be the issue for the player collector, auto collector and possibly rookie collector - not so much for the set builder and really not so much for the master set builder. Years ago in a land far far away, Tek cards came with pattern #'s and card #'s.... not this year.

Boxes here in O'do are going for $140 - 40 cards - $3.50 per card... would have like to have received a few more cards in the box - maybe 6 or 8 packs of 10?

I am a sucker for the acetate cards - still don't know why, but I really like them. I probably have 1000 or more many of which are complete sets (no, I did not start nor try to complete the Tek set from years ago with 1800 cards in the complete set - although it would be very cool to have done it!)

I like the blackout parallel. They are easier on the eyes and tremendously easier to read.

This year's High Tek seems a bit complicated to me. I prefer simplification - give me card numbers/pattern #'s/ etc. to allow me to easily know what I am chasing. Cracks, waves, blocks, squiggles, funk bolts -- too much for this old codger!

Overall grade B - please tell me what card and pattern # I have.

Go buy a box or 3 and send the Rays to me!

I love that Beltre Auto. Unfortunately, the only Rays auto I have to offer for it is a Joey Gathright.

Thanks for another great review Duane. You've hit some nice stuff this year.
