and my son got his first autographs after a MLB game. We went out the exit where the visiting players leave, so he decided he wanted to try to get some autos. Nothing too huge, but he was having a blast, but when our daughter decided it was time to go, it was time to go.
He was succesful in getting C Chris Stewart and rookie SS Brandon Crawford. But his biggest success was getting an "older guy" who turned out to be 2010 HOF Broadcaster inductee Jon Miller. He was having a blast even though he didn't know who most of them were.
Biggest disappointments though were Miguel Tejada, who said he didn't have time, and walked right by everyone. But hey, it happens. But then there was Brian Wilson, who went out a different exit and had them shuttling him up the street on a golf cart, ignoring all the "Giants fans" and everyone else.
What shocked me really was that there were maybe, and this is a big maybe, 20 people or so out there looking to get sigs. Figured it would be many, many more. I personally was just hoping for a chance handshake with Lincecum. That is one player my son would have definitely recognized. But now we might have to try this again, given that I was definitely suprised by how few people there were. The players we did see that walked out were very nice. And I know for a fact, after we sat and looked at roster photos this morning, there were several players and coaches that most people just didn't recognize.
I think he is kinda hooked on the idea of being an autograph hunter lol. Gives me a good reason to go to Spring Training before long.
