What do you guys think about Tier One?

I think it is very a hit and miss product. Some boxes are great but some are real busts. I know I won't be buying any unless the cost goes down.

It is a nice looking product . The base cards are on thick stock. If you hit one of the Aaron jumbo patches #d/10 that was in an earlier thread, you will do quite well. If you have boxes similar to the ones I saw opened, you'll end up with autos of Anthony Rizzo and Alex Cobb, a jersey card of Don Mattingly, and a black parallel of Dustin Pedroia. Those 4 will make you about $15 back of the $85 cost of the box… To me, it's no different that the other higher-end boxes like Tribute or Triple Threads. You won't be able to buy the jaw-dropping cards from those products for anywhere close to the price of a box, but you could buy twice as many nice cards for about half the price of a box.

Essentially the same product as Marquee, IMO, and not worth box prices now, which were over $100 at a show here Saturday. Saw a whole bunch of dealers with Tier 1 stuff in their dollar boxes.

Just saw a jumbo Garvey patch card on EBAY. Looked like a piece of a special patch, maybe 1980 AS or similar, rather than the same old red/blue swatches. Still, #10/10 and the seller opened the bidding at $399.

NOT!

I bought 2 packs of it. My big hits were a game used George Sisler,Ripken base # to 25 an a Mike Schmidt on card auto # to 99. I like this product but its very hit and miss.

I want to buy a box I'm just worried that I'm gonna pull some bogus players. Topps doesn't need to put guys like Angel Pagan in a set that costs this much.

Yeah, that scared me away from any box. So far I got the #799 and #199 base cards of Kershaw, Kemp, Cano and a Kershaw auto off ebay for a total of $40-$45 incl. shipping. Figured I would go for a Kemp auto and that would be pretty much everything I want for price of 1 box or less.

Yea but the guys that I collect I would end up spending around $200 or so buying their loose cards from the set lol

LOL... yeah i hear ya. That still might be better that the frustration of buying a box and getting a Tyson Ross auto and a Josh Thole auto for close to $100. My son keeps putting it on his X-mas list, so I guess "Santa" will have to fork it over for 1. We will see. If you do buy one, let us know how it goes. I do really like the cards though. Too bad it would cost hundreds to try and do the set.

I will Adam lol. I really want to but my gut is telling me not to. Maybe i'm still a lil mad at Topps for putting such an awful product out (Topps Marquee). I know that I am more than likely going to buy the 2012 Bowman Sterling. That is a great product for the most part!
