Hey Gang -

Just got back from the local card shop where I bought my jumbo box. Wanted to redeem Spring Fever redemption card. He said that since he didnt deal directly with Topps they didnt send him any. Disappointed but I moved on. Called another popular local shop. Same deal there. They sell lots of Topps product but dont have the cards. So what gives? How am I supposed to redeem this card if you wont supply the shop I bought the card from? Disappointing. Would have been happier with a mail in redemption.

Thanks,

Jeff

I feel your pain 100%. On the Topps website are 5 card shops within 20 miles of my house that are supposed to be HTA dealers for Topps - Only one of them is still in business. When they were all in business, none of them knew about any of these redemption products.

I emailed Topps the day after I busted my packs asking what my options for redemption were - I received no answer whatsoever. Normally Topps has been very good with their customer service (IMO), but on these pack redemptions, they absolutely stink.

I'm luckly because my hobby store got the spring fever packs a few days ago....their the only hobby store in town with them! However, the promotion is only good from 2/20/2013 to 2/27/2013. After that they take can use the packs anyway they want to. Sounds like they want to give one pack to everyone who buys a box. Best regards, David

50 cards in the set and there are autos serial (24 players so far and might be a few more)...Trout only has signed 51 cards! No gu or numbered (except the autos). Best regards, David

You can only redeem them at participating stores.

Here's the list:

Participating stores - Spring Fever Redemptions

Hope this helps.

Looks like one of the participating stores might be in the local mall. Will try to hit there today to check it out. Thanks for the list and the help.

Thanks,

Well so much for that idea. The store I went to had NO idea what I was asking for.

Talked with both the stores in Lancaster (the localist to me - 30 minute drive) - neither had any idea what I was talking about. Unless these guys are feigning ignorace to keep and bust all the packs Topps sent them - Topps is doing a horrible job with these in pack card promotions.

It is not Topps fault the HTA stores didn't participate in this promotion. All hobby stores, that have an allocation from Topps, received an email to participate or not. Some might not have realized what it was months ago when it was launched...................The HTA store, I work in part time, got all the promo material and packs about a month before Topps series one hit the streets..................A bunch of stores, including a few in Memphis, get their "hobby" stuff from distributors and could have requested the Spring Fever material from them; i.e. Southern Hobby here in Tennessee...................I know Topps and their customer support isn't the greatest, but on this one it isn't their fault.................

While I agree with most of this I still find fault with Topps for listing stores that are obviously not participating.

Thanks,

Jeff

I took my Spring Fever card to a local shop and he asked if I purchased the box from his store. I didn't - purchased on-line - but I told him it was a gift from my wife and she bought the box from his store and I received my pack. Should it matter where the box was purchased? If you pull a redemption card and the store has the packs, honor the deal!

The only things I buy from my local card shop anymore are supplies. It's sad, but their boxes are just too expensive. They can't compete with on-line dealers like Blowout Cards.

I sent Topps a message over on Twitter with a link to this thread. Let's see if we get a response.

Yes, the shops should keep them for their customers, not Blowout Card customers..................

Disagree completely. Both Topps and LCS's should be aware that collectors buy product online and that should be taken into account when setting a promotion up.

From an LCS perspective, they should want as many people as possible coming through their doors. The more people through their doors, the more money they can make. Let's do some basic math - let's say there are 100 card collectors within a 10 mile radius of a given LCS. Of those 100, all bought boxes of 2013 Series I Topps, but only 5 of them bought those boxes at the LCS. By saying that only those that bought boxes at the LCS should be able to redeem their cards at the LCS, you have excluded 95% of your potential customers. Would every one of the other 95 come in and redeem and spent additional money, that is not guaranteed. But I do know, that if they don't come into the store, it is guaranteed they WON'T spend any money there.

Should there be a plan in place to make sure that those that by the boxes in the LCS get first crack at the redemption packs, yes. That would seem reasonable.

But for Topps to put a redemption card in their packs that not everyone has the ability to redeem - that is extremely poor in terms of marketing. Worse yet, listing places they can be redeemed and have those places either not know what is going on or not even be open any longer.

Which leads to the greater question - How can Topps not know which of its HTA dealers have closed their doors??? That is just lazy in my opinion. I could understand if one or two of them shut their doors in the last couple months, but it sure seems like many have been out of business for years.

Sorry for my mini-rant.......

It's a Topps HOME TEAM ADVANTAGE promotion. Each shop who is under contract with Topps can participate if they wish, and they are sent only a certain amount of the packs to redeem for their customers. My local shop was sent only an amount proportional to the product they pre-ordered. So if they have, say, 12 boxes to sell, they got 12 packs, which should be used for customers that bought the product at their shop. Imagine if you bought the box in the store, got the redemption and the owner said, sorry, we're out of packs, a guy who bought a case off of Blowout cards got them all.
It might be hard for you to see that, but shop owners need to be loyal to the customers who spent money in their shops, and the more, the more loyal. I'm lucky enough to be in a position to be able to afford premium boxes/packs, which means a sale to me may pay the rent for my shop owner. In return for my business, he ensures I get a discount, very close to what I would pay online, and holds products for me until i can come in and purchase. he will also seek out any product I want, and buy for me, hold it, then sell ti to me at same price he paid- he appreciates my business. With all due respect, if I only bought supplies at his shop, I would expect none of that.
And it occurs to me that Blowout Cards is Topps HTA, they should redeem your card.

That's what's in place where I work...................If anyone else has the redemptions, from other sources, they will be honored....................They are nice looking cards, to say the least..................Actually pulled an auto from the 3 pack I opened.....................
