Lucky you, you have an LCS and knowing your area you probably have a ton of them.

Did you ever think about making an offer on one or more of those 5,000 count boxes? I used to get tons of great stuff by doing that when our LCS was in business and got quite a bit of vintage that way.

I like that idea, unfortunately there is so much junk in most of them that I would take a bath on it. Plus if I brought home more projects, it might be a problem!

I am however trying to sort out all the vintage that I find and set it up in specific boxes so I know what I have looked at and what I haven't looked at and also make it easier for the next guy looking for vintage.

How valuable are the tri-cards from 80-81??? Topps basketball - found about 25-30 of them while digging. Obviously not the Magic/Bird one, but Moses, etc. prominently featured?

Sort of a last second post as I get ready to head to baseball practice - I get three hours of hanging out at my LCS this evening while my son practices. They have tons of monster boxes filled with vintage to modern and any/all sports and completely unorganized.

I go through every row of every box looking for 69-73 that I need, sometimes I find nothing, sometimes I find a dozen cards - it is just a total roll of the dice. Figure if I am just searching mindlessly - is there anything that anyone is looking for, I would be happy to pull cards, take pics, etc. to try and help others out.
I used to do this at one of the shops in Plano, TX. They were all organized but it was still fun to play hide and seek.
If you find any 90s Cowboys inserts/parallels I will probably be interested! Thanks and have fun!

Will do - they have a 2nd, smaller room that has a bunch of football in monster boxes. Once I exhaust the big room boxes, will slide over there to see what might be hidden.

Unfortunately those tri cards are not worth much unless there is a Magic or Bird (or preferably both) on them. With 3 players on a card a ton of the 80-81s have HOFers on them which pretty much makes them commons with rare exception like DR. J.

Makes sense - will have to keep an eye out and see what might be hiding in the boxes.

Here is a little sampling of the Cowboys cards that I run across while monster box diving - no clue if any of it would be of interest to you. Weather permitting, I will be up there three more times in July.

Coolio! Maybe the Dak Pandora (I think that's what it is), Overshown RC, and Aikman $5 phone card.

LOL- OK, no clue if I will be able to find them again, since it seems everyone else who goes through those boxes has no concept of decorum and order in keeping similar things together.

No worries... if you see them again great! But don't rack your brain trying to hunt them down! Thanks for remembering me!

Sounds good - figure if I am digging through the boxes, might as well keep an eye out for stuff that others may be interested in.

About three years ago I picked up a lot of 1979 Topps Football cards. Combined with the ones I already had, I decided to make a NM set and a vgsh set. I got almost all the way through this project when I finally found there was a card I did not have. DANNY FREAKING WHITE!!! I did not have a NM copy of that card nor a ****** copy of it . So I ended up having 2 1979 football sets where I had 527 of the 528 cards and was missing the same card for both!! I finally got a NM copy and later on a vgish copy of it through 2 different trades here to finish those sets.

My point of this diatribe is Katester shows a random selection of 15 Cowboys cards and 'lo and behold there is a 1979 Danny White ampngst them.

Just gotta know where to look, right??? In all seriousness though, that is a crazy coincidence!

Sorry - no LCS visit last night. Torrential downpours forced the normal outdoor practice to go indoors - at a facility about 35 minutes away. So had to turn the car around and make that drive. And the way it was raining, I was happy to just find a little place to eat about 5 minutes away and hunker down for a couple hours.

You get back up to that shop now!! Find Cowboys cards for me!!! I don't care if there's a blizzard in July... get in there and dig dig dig!
Seriously, though... not a problem. Glad they moved practice and everyone was safe!

I am in the midst of my 3 week break from baseball, so card shop is on hiatus right now. Hopefully they will have some new vintage offerings when I head back regularly in a couple weeks.
