Who is a player you collect that nobody else probably does?

At one time I had a card signed by Jamie Moyer in every uniform of every MLB team he played for. I also had collected every Randy Martz card, and brought them to him when he was coaching our local Indy League team, the Gateway Grizzlies. I asked if he would sign his cards, and he said "Every card ever!" Several of the players came over to look at his cards while he was signing, it was a cool experience!

Other than that, I collect AAGPBL and Ne.gro League autographed items, which are lesser known eras of baseball history, but have always interested me!

Moyer went to high school about 25 minutes from where I grew up. He was more than a couple years ahead of me, but know that he pitched against our school back in the day.

The "behind the scenes" collection I have is - Phil Hughes (Yankees/Twins). When the Trenton Thunder was a Yankees minor league affiliate, my dad worked for them for 6 or 7 years, so I followed just about everyone that came through the system at that time. I hitched my wagon to Hughes as the guy I thought had the most long term potential.

Mine is Mark Sobolewski. Who?!? A minor leaguer with the Blue Jays and Twins from 2008 to 2014. Why? Because he shares my uncommon last name. I am probably related to him in some way. I have all of his cards, except a few 1/1s.

That is awesome, @katester44 ! I had no idea he was from your area! He went the distance in my first game at Wrigley in 1988, have liked him ever since!

Cameron Seitzer (Kevin’s so ) His mom babysat my oldest for a year or so as an infant. He played at Oklahoma and was drafted by Tampa. He made AAA but never went to the show. Played a year in White Sox system trying to be a pitcher. Pretty sure he’s a coach for them now.

Anyone with 2012 Bowman Chrome or Topps Pro Debut numbered stuff I need it!

The only player I started to collect was Ruben Rivera. I remember pulling his 95 Bowman Foil card. Should have never read the back. Compared him to Clemente, Mantle & Mays. Rates plus-plus in every tool. "Prodigious Power...Game-Altering Speed....Wondrous arm" 94 minor leagues 33 HR's 101 RBI 48 SB's. Ranked as high as #2 MLB prospect. Unfortunately, probably the only thing he'll be remembered for is selling Derek Jeter's glove.
