Its a great place to up pick some cards, its not the best place in the world. It has a lot of similarities like ebay. Throw an offer in, you never know... I really hate when sellers counter with 10 cents off their asking price. For example, card bv's $8, they want $4, i offer $2 they counter with $3.90. Thats as stupid as someone on ebay looking to sell a common A&G jersey or bat for $5.99 with free shipping, not going to happen. I dont spend alot of time on there but have picked up some great deals.
I don't doubt there are deals to be had. It's another option to explore, and more places to search is a good thing. As you said, I see quite a bit of similarity to ebay. I just don't understand the post upon post claiming 'great deals', 'hard to find cards', etc, and the handful of cards I search for are looking for ebay prices, or are not available. I do see it as a boon for 'common' player collectors, as has been said, for being able to stockpile a load of Billy Wagner cards until it becomes cost effective to ship a bundle at once. That has always been one of the biggest drawbacks of ebay to me is it just isn't practical for the lower demand lower value stuff (Moises Alou parallels, Terry Pendleton inserts, etc). This certainly helps fill that void. I just get leary when I see excessive praise and hype for places. I go into "I'm getting a pretty hard sell from someone who in theory has no vested interest in this" mode and get suspicious. It's my cynical nature.
