Mantle Home Run History Chrome question...

So, I though I had put this set to bed this week picking up the last two cards I needed, or thought I needed anyway. I always recount the cards before marking a set complete, just in case I missed one and, lo and behold, I'm missing card # 490.

no biggie, I thought. I'll check my OPG list and see if I marked it off accidentally. I was curious to see that it was not in my organize. This would not be the first time I missed something when I added it to organize, so I went to add it in and can't find it anywhere. Even when I look at the set stats, Beckett lists it as a 59 card set, no #490 in the listing. I did a quick look an both eBay and COMC and did not see one.

My question then is, does card 490 exist? Was it Beckett who left it off the checklist, or Topps who left it out of the set?
any help would be appreciated...

I am certain that for the 2008 Topps CHROME set, HR 490 card does not exist.

I would assume thats true for the regular topps set as well.

From everything I see on OPG there is no card 490 for that set.

Best way to find out is to send Topps a message in hopes of a response...I have sent a E-maiol to them a couple of times in the past and have gotten a response.

I would assume thats true for the regular topps set as well.

Dunno why i even added that as OP is looking for the chrome version.

I am 10000% certain that chrome 490 card does not exist.
In addition to not being in OPG, its not on the checklist card from 2008 topps chrome, in which MHRC400 thru MHRC536 were found.

Very interesting, thanks! I have not seen the checklists, since I no longer open packs....I think I will contact Topps also, it certainly won't hurt.

Hello,
I am looking for information on a card from your 2006 Topps Chrome Mantle Home Run History set. Was Home Run 490 ever produced?
Beckett does not list it as being in the set, but I have not been able to find confirmation of whether it was, or was not printed.
Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately Topps does not archive information of any kind on older released products. Once a product has reached its one year anniversary it is considered memorabilia, in which case all information regarding that product is maintained by memorabilia companies, such as Beckett.

I don't think it was all that long ago that I could find checklists on the Topps website...now it appears that if the item is not now in stores, they don't know anything about it.

I have about 50 differnt ones at home. Base and chrome. I will search what I have and give you an answer. If I do have it I will send it to you. I know I ave some 400 series but that number doesnt ring any bells so I will have to look.

Scottzoe, I supercollected the 2008 topps chrome set.
Opened a case and half plus a bunch of retail blasters.
I have the Master set, refractor master, x-fractor set, copper master, blue master, and all but about 35 red refractors. Throw in the 2 retail sets,the 100 card heritage set and 30 some odd printplates,
my 2008 Topps chrome collection totals out to around 2070 unique cards.

If anyone would have one, it would be me.
but,
I do not have a Chrome HR 490 card in any form.
Its not on the checklist, not in Beckett, and
I've never seen one in any form.
It doesnt exist.

Not really, he hit it in the first game of a doubleheader off Dick Bosman, was a solo shot, they lost 7-6. He hit 491 in the 2nd game off Jim Hannan. Hit #489 the day before against the Red Sox.
