I know I've just gotten back into trading over the past 4-5 months; so I was surprised when I picked up a lot of 2009 Obak cards the other day and saw that many of them were SPs or valued at over $1 according to Beckett.

But, when I went to eBay to get a feel for the demand of these cards, there's like zero demand. Maybe it's because only 28 listings are of auction style, I don't know.

I'm not familiar with the Obak brand, so I was hoping that someone could shed some light for me on if these are simply over-valued cards, or if they're a decent set.

Example players are: Strasburg, Hosmer, Mike Stanton, and numerous HOFers. Thanks for the input!

If you like the set, it's a decent set, if you don't care about the set, it's not. Are you looking for cards that sell close to book value? There aren't many in most sets. When Heritage comes out, or Topps, or Bowman Chrome, those sets are big for set builders, a set here and there may catch on, but by and large, most recent sets don't have a huge singles market more than a couple months after release, because new sets are taking their place. Obak is a 2 year old set

Last I saw 2002 Fleer Tradition common SP's booked $3, stars were more

Look at this auction

Less than $12.50 for about $120 BV just in SP's, not counting the GU card and the inserts, which range from 1:6 packs to 1:36 packs (and there were 5 of the 1:36 pack inserts, meaning about 7.5 boxes worth, with some big names) pretty decent selection of $5 inserts. Nobody is really looking for them anymore, if I had seen this, I probably would have bid more, but it's not anything I'm actively looking for

Wow,
That makes sense. Thanks for the input... I guess I was a little shocked since Hosmer is a big name right now as well as Brett Lawrie and Jason Heyward. Then of course there are the HOFers who seem to always be tradebait for somebody. I kinda like the look of the cards, but I'm a big Turkey Red fan also. I guess I'll hang on to the singles and see if someone else can use them more than me. I paid $9 and the BV for the non-commons is over $200. Pretty decent pickup I think. Thanks again!
