*Quite a bit of effort was put into trying to find this answer before I decided to ask this community. If there is a post/site with this information already I would appreciate a link.

I am looking for a 2011/2012 MLB hobby boxes that would provide me the best bang for the buck. My price range is around 1k. I enjoy rookie, old timers, or historic figures on card auto, DNA, or jersey cut. If it strays from baseball and its not a historic figure, I'm not interested in it. I am looking at getting either a specific case or 12 assorted boxes. I have a deep seeded childhood fetish with opening up packs of cards. That being said, I am willing to opt out of quantity for quality for good one pack boxes as well.

I enjoyed A&G 2009 for the prior mentioned reasons, again I dont like how far it strays from baseball but the historic figures was a nice touch.

Upper Deck 2009 (I think) with the on card auto & stained glass cards were great as well.

Thank you for your time.

Sounds like you're looking for a bunch of stuff. Bowman, Topps Heritage, Topps Archives, Allen & Ginter all fit some of your description. Personally, I like Heritage best, but it doesn't have as much 'big hit' potential some of the others do (Bowman and A&G). Tier One is also looking decent from some of the breaks I've seen, but as always with those higher end products, it's usually a big hit or a huge miss. Historic Autographs Legends of the Hall is always fun to open, but again, it's a big gamble, lots of $30 autographs mixed in with the bigger hits. Personally I couldn't do those just because my stomach couldn't take $75/1 card pack and seeing Feller, Doerr, Killebrew, Spahn, etc. pop up time after time, but hitting a Satchel Paige, Mantle, Ted Williams, Jackie Robinson...that would be memorable.

I've enjoyed busting boxes of both 2011 and 2012 Gypsy Queen.

I don't think you're going to get everything you want in one product - but Robert's suggestion is pretty good for what you are looking for. If you want a little of everything, you're probably better doing a sampler platter of products from 2011-2012.

Some of my favorites
2011 Bowman Draft
2011-2012 Bowman
2011-2012 Gypsy Queen
Tier One or Museum are higher priced - haven't opened any, but the cards look nice.
2011-2012 Ginter (prefer 2012 so far)

My two cents anyway.

Thank you all for the replies. It looks like I'll snag a case of the A&G 2012. I'll snag a box of Historic Autograph Legends & one 2012 Gypsy to get a taste and see if I like it.
