if i was to purchase a wax box, or whatever they call them these days, of 2012, which would be my best $20 spent? unfortunately for me, walmart is my local hobby shop and the choices are limited.

not sure about baseball, but i just got a blaster of 2012 topps chrome football and it turned out decent for me. also, even tho they arent licensed, i bought a box of 2012 leaf young stars football. coolation is not very good at all, i got plenty of "name" rookies, 4 richardsons, 4 kuechleys but only 1 each of rg3 and russell wilson, no luck with luck tho.
but you get 2 autographs in each box. my two werent "name" rookies, but still autos none the less.

it's all pretty much luck i think, lol

Your in the same boat i am unless i buy hobby boxes online-Wal Mart is my only source for boxes my rule of thumb is buy blasters of what everyone seems to be collecting now and that is 2012 Bowman Chrome and 2012 Topps Update

If you are looking at blasters, either pick a set YOU like, or pick what other people are busting. It's all a gamble. Your 'best $20 spent' would likely be singles off COMC or ebay if shows and shops are scarce in your area. At least you'll get cards you know you need/want, vs a $20 gamble that leaves you about 30% of the way to a set and a handful of inserts that may or may not match up with someone's needs. I pulled a hot box of Topps Chrome, all refractors, purple refractors, and xfractors, but it was mostly low caliber rookies, every day players, a few minor stars, and one or two veteran superstars, better than base, but still fairly low demand items.
