To any Sportlots dealers who might read this, I have been a dealer on Sportlots for 6+ yrs now and over the last 3 months I have been experiencing my worst 3 months ever. My sales are way down and its not because of bad feedback. Just curious if other Sportlots dealers are experiencing a drop in business. Thanks for any responses.

I have used both to buy. What I got on COMC I have never been able to find on Sportlots. I will continue to use both to fill out the sets I have been working on.

Thanks,

Jeff

I have used SPORTLOTS a lot with great success but and only a luke warm experience with COMC.
However I think the whole collecting scene has been hurt by the USPS with there increase in prices and also the young people are more interested in playing video games than collecting and trading. Lately the shows have been decreasing in attendance and very few young people attending. Peolpe don't want to trade one card anymore . More interested in autos rather than trading.

Greg,

Yes - it got so bad I just put my inventory on vacation, wasn't worth the time and effort anymore - especially after sportlots raised their fees without even a notification of the increase. I will still use sportlots to by bulk commons I need, but otherwise COMC is the better value. Unfortunately as a seller, COMC is too pricey to move anything but cards with a sale value of $2-$3+.

Thanks,

Craig

My Sportlots sales have been down a bit, but there's nothing special in my inventory, so it's no surprise. I really wish the owner would do a better job of engaging the hobby instead of just the lame contests. An actual blog or news update would be a huge benefit, but instead nothing but a very weak Twitter feed and Facebook page. The site sorely needs a new developer to get it out of 1990s technology and into the more modern web look and feel.

My problem with sportslots, besides the archaic technology and page layouts, is that the owner is not on the ball at all! My problem was stemming from buying an item that was mis-listed by the owner. I got the card after paying $15 and found out it was the 50 cent version mis-listed. I tried everything to get a refund and return the card to the owner but after numerous emails to both the site owner and the card dealer, nothing was done and no response came. I then had no other option than to file a paypal claim, to get my money back. I do this and the site owner suspends my account indefinitely! Now, talk about shoddy customer service and communication, this guy takes the cake! i still buy once in a while under another name, but i will never take any chances nor have anything to with this owner other than that. i try always to take my business anywhere but sportlots if at all possible!

I am curious if anyone else has had similar problems with the owner of the site like i did.

My 2 cents!

Another note to Sportlots dealers...

On Monday, December 31st they had some sort of issue where you couldn't check out. I messaged them and they responded a little later that the issue was resolved, so I went to check out again. This time, the order didn't go through again and my cart disappeared (there were 348 cards from about 40 dealers that I had been working on for a while in there).

The kicker is, not only did my cart disappear, but the cards disappeared from the dealer inventory as well. So dealers should note that there is a good chance that some cards disappeared from your inventory without being sold. (I personally have bought from all of the dealers who have posted on this thread.)

I had some cards listed on Sportlots that I just removed because of the disappointing nature of the site. I am also a much better collector than dealer (I never want to get rid of anything).

I can't believe they are the only site like that on the web (where people can list their own cards for sale). I wish someone would fill that void and do a better job than Sportlots does. If anyone knows of such a place, please let me know!

Thanks!

-Eric

COMC had their big Black Friday weekend sale (free shipping, discounts) which I would think would draw business away from Sportslots. I did manage to complete a number of sets buying from COMC that weekend.

I agree with the comments here that Sportslots has to upgrade their site to make it easier. Some good points have been made here about the promotional aspect of the site - let me rephrase that - the lack of promotion and marketing. I'd like to see Sportslots restructure their pricing on base cards to make them more reasonable.
