I took some time off selling on feebay and went to set up to sell again but it has ask for my last four of my social and some other questions. My question is this legit I am just skeptical after my accounts being hacked before. And I understand the sale isn’t right into PayPal ?

Yeah, what Steve said above. They also ran a promotion to get buyers to pay with a credit/debit card recently and bypass Paypal all together. But be leery because it isn't all what Ebay wants you to believe either.

While I think it makes sense to pay at one place for items as a buyer, the feds will hammer you at tax time as a seller if you do not report ebay sales as income. It states it in Ebay's selling update that with you posting your card/bank account they will use your information for your tax id number, etc.

Of course the only way Ebay will allow you to sell anything anymore is if you comply and give them your information.

I hadn't sold anything on Ebay in almost a year until this past Saturday sold an item and had to provide my bank info and then found out it takes 3 days for money to be deposited into my acct why?--Found out through Ebay chat Buyer can't recind on payment and starting on 6/30 If a buyer wants to retract a bid the seller must approve it....and beginning on 7/30 whatever the seller has as there return policy is enforced for example if you have a 14 day return policy then that's policy and the 14 days begins as soon as card is shipped and if the seller has no return policy the buyer has 3 days to file a return--Also not sure when it will begin but on your acct it will show the average time a buyer takes to pay and in Aug if an item is an auction the seller can offer one of the bidders a buy it now chance within 24 hrs of auctions end.

Yep, everything you just said is true the way I understand it. Just got the notice myself about the three day return policy if none is stated by the seller.

To my understanding the "3 days" it takes to get paid does not count weekends or holidays as well. So if your sale ends on a Friday night and Monday is Memorial Day (for example), you wouldn't get paid until the next Thursday. Not really sure why it takes so long.

one small correction - at least according to all the notices posted onsite - the return window , whether it's 3 , 14 , 30 , or 60 days , begins after DELIVERY date , not SHIPPING date...

I am not very happy that the IRS is going after hobby income. So for the time being, I'm not going to sell anything. I say this because I think some of the ebay changes are related to IRS regulations.
