I know that the grade on this is not good as it is a PSA 8 (which it should be a nine) but it is still selling for $30 at least on ebay, I figured since I was curious I would see what
GameStop would offer for it using their program...atrocious!

If it’s an 8 in the case it’s an 8. If you think i can do better PSA it (“please submit again “) or break it out an keep raw.

Unless crazy rare, a psa in ultra modern is essentially worse than raw

To you, sure, but as a whole, not that far off. a quick ebay check of closed sales on raw cards is showing completed sales as low as $5-6 and up to $20. I know I skip past these kinds of deals in bargain boxes in $5-10 range at shows all the time. As others mentioned, new, non rare cards in less than a 9 are often viewed as minimal value. Even if they bought it for $5 with the idea to crack it and resubmit. It's tough to find a profit. $5 for the card, $20-25 or so to grade the card, witing weeks or months to get it back, even if it gets bumped to a 9 those have been selling for $20-30. Over the years I have picked up a handful of HOF/star rookies from the glory years for $5 or less with the idea of holding and cashing out later. It's a long play and honestly, the gain is minimal. At least with Skenes, he's active and if he does this for another five years, somone will take the chance. Even with that, pitchers have alwyas been viewed as riskier bets
