I was surprised to find out McDonald was the last non kicker/punter to play without a facemask. There was a video on Youtube about how the NFL was in 1968 and the showed McDonald with either the Browns or Falcons playing without a face mask, I had no idea anyone was playing without a face mask that late especially with the hard shell helmets. That os a special combination of tough and crazy!!! Damn! Here's one for today!

A prime example of a player in the card collecting business that was considered a huge prospect but failed to live up to the hype. I won't say he became a "suspect" as he had a decent careerbut his cards did end up in commons boxes. One of the countless examples of why I caution against putting big money into hyped prospects.Dean Palmer '97 Donruss Press Proof Gold /500

Right. It's nice when you are surprised by finding one, years down the road ( I found my Trout rookie, when going through a box about 4 years later. I got lucky i think I only bought 1 hanger of update that year.A prime example of a player in the card collecting business that was considered a huge prospect but failed to live up to the hype. To be honest I don't know much about Dean Palmer other than he was a Ranger when I'd get to go to games as young'n. Watching them at that dank Rangers Stadium and then the Glorious Ballpark in Arlington.Right. My favorite set. Those Alou brothers seemed to make semi regular apearances on the League Leader batting average cards in that era. And a few years later Rico Carty won the batting title with a 366 aaverage. Weird how that particular stat stuck in my mind all these years later. Here's one for today!
