Check out Hodee's topic where he is trading football cards for Marvin Harrison cards. The nicest autograph by far is Jim Brown's. Better than Kurt Warner's, Payton Manning's or anyone else's. Who would have ever figured that two of the baddest mother (HUSH YOUR MOUTH) on the planet in Jim Brown and Bob Gibson would have such nice handwriting?

I know this gers beat to death on this thread, but i swear, part of it is just not caring. Another part is the amount the card companies have them sign, but i feel like that is a cop out. Bert Blyleven will post about the ones he signs occasionally and they are all legible, but then again he's old school. I remember the first time seeing Richard Petty's autograph and thinking "man thats a great signature. Here is an example of mine to go along with @TC84 's
My mom used to ask how anyone could read that, and my response was "first name is fine, the Y flows into the H and then the dips into the U the R is next and the curl at the end is the D." One of my fellow high school teammates told me once that i had a "great baseball signature "

Kevin Young, who in a moment of confusion, when the Pirates traveled to Minnesota for interleague play the first time in 1997, saw what he thought was the Metrodome and said "wow so this is why they call it the Homer Dome!" Turns out the Bucs hotel was next to the Target Center, how of the Timberwolves and considerably smaller than the Metrodome.

Here's a story for the true collector in all of us. I've been chasing 3 cards to complete the 58 Topps All-Star subset - Aaron, Mays and Williams. They routinely go for over $100 each in Exmt at auction, which is about double what I want to pay. A couple weeks ago, I saw all 3 about 7 days out so I put down a low bid just so I could follow them. But then I got so busy at work that I forgot I did that and I never checked in on them.
Today to my great surprise a card showed up in the mail. It was the Williams. I had no idea I won the auction - for, get this, $2.25 ! (The Aaron went for something like $90).

Putting this beauty up early so we can enjoy it all day.... or whenever you feel like looking at the most stunning woman on Earth! If they print these like sports cards she would have been around 40 years old when this picture was taken.... WOW!!!

I don't know how to answer that. Half the fun of collecting is getting good deals. If I had KAT money or Seth Meyers money, I would just buy all the cards I want and complete my sets and have nothing left to chase. I'd be looking at my PSA 4 52 Mantle and trying to replace it with a PSA 7. Some people live in that world. I don't.
I only post pix of new things I pick up. If I started posting pix of cards I already have in my collection, it would take up my entire life and yours too.

Geez, what a great price and pick up…….Nothing beats knocking one off the list…..

That doesn't really answer the question, it seems like you put the price you paid for every card you pick up. Why not just say, "Got this at a great deal." I feel like you want to get the WOW factor for something you paid. Which most of the time, to be honest, is hard to believe. Like that This Speaker T206... I still don't believe it's real. I didn't when I first saw it, and I still don't. How bout showing it here and let the masses decide? I remember the PM title... "F.Y.E.O." Why just me? If I had ANY T206 in that condition it would be shown immediately! It wasn't even in a case or top-loader. I dunno what you mean by if you showed cards you already had in your collection.... that's what this is for, to show stuff we have IN our collections. I tend to ramble.... some know this first hand.... I just have many questions about the cards you post, the prices, and authenticity. Sorry, not sorry.

Agreed! Never saw Apex, If you haven't seen "Monster" I highly recommend watching it. True story about Eilien Warnos. She won an Oscar for that role.
Even "The Old Guard" she carried that movie from just another random action movie to a deep seeded story, with her character alone.
I first saw her in the Cider House Rules and have been a big fan ever since. All my girlfriends knew that Charlize was that one movie star I'd break up with them for for just one date with Charlize! Not even a date... just a pint and a chat!

Not sure I want to engage, young dude... but here goes.

I got the Speaker and 5 other T206 cards from the CCC sometime around 1968 or 69. I won't tell you what I paid, since that appears to offend you. If you're a baseball fan, you might be able to guess what 3 of the other cards are. Hint: not the Dutchman, sadly.

If you don't know what the CCC was, ask Symphonic or one of the OGs of card collecting here to explain it to you.

The card is not in a holder because I took it out to photograph it for my archives. I keep it in a thick plastic holder in a bank vault.

Concerning authenticity - in the 1960s and 70s, cards were not worth much. A 52 Mantle could be had for about twenty bucks. Counterfeiting cards was not a thing, since nobody wanted old cards. The first Beckett price guide didn't come out until 1979. Unless I decide to grade the Speaker, its only authenticity will be my personal life history.
