(the AB threshold increased from 2500 to 3250, and the IP/saves threshold went from 800/100 to 1200/100)
--personal note: Ellsbury came in with a bang. Ben Sheets got OWNED by the committee. He is far away the best retired pitcher so far and came in very low on the initial ballot.

Pretty shocking when you compare Sheets and Escobar. Sheets had a W/L record of 136-81 with 1625 K's and an ERA of 3.70. He was a 5 time All-Star. Escobar had a W/L record of 126-113 with 1467 K's and an ERA of 3.84. Escobar was an All-Star once and a Gold Glove Award winner once.

Big difference is that Sheets was 1-8 with an 8.45 ERA in the post season with no rings. Escobar was 9-4 with a 4.53 ERA in the post season with 3 rings. Do you think the game places an importance on such?

Ken Allen born and bred a Met. I'm pulling for him my most favorite closer that pitched lights out as a starter and in the playoffs when my top arm went down. He was a dominant pitcher that hopefully will wear the Mets hat.

The system I use is largely based off Wins above replacement, in addition to some extra categories. The stats are valued and then a random number generator 'votes' based off the input value.

Sheets had a much larger starting number, yet his random factor was horrible, and took him way, way down the polls. He could have very well came in at over 40% if he was lucky.

I guess we will chalk it up to him being an Albert Belle. Great player, hated by media.

So no one has been elected so far?

No, the system uses career metrics, and since we are only entering the 10th season, most guys retired to this point just didnt have time to accumulate stats. Very few hof members w short careers. It will be a very exclusive title for a bit, which will be nice

I did not realize that guys like Jeter did not have their real MLB numbers included. Yeah, it may be a while before someone can muster up a solid career for enshrinement.
