But I have to ask, has anyone ever not received a huge redemption (100+ BV) and if so, what did you do about it? Did the company really pony up a card of equal value?
I collected the 2006 SP Authentic By the Letter auto set... I had redemptions for Kerry Wood, Greg Maddux, Andruw Jones and some others that never signed... when Upper Deck announced they would not be signing and started offering replacement cards I did better with the lower valued redemption cards... for example I got a $60 Wade Boggs shortprint auto for my $30 Kendry Morales redemption but for my Greg Maddux #d to 25 redemption I got a Jeff Bagwell #d to 50 auto. Love Bags, but he isn't an equal to Maddux....

I found this on Panini's Blog:

The following response was sent to a customer from Panini America Vice President Jim Dryden regarding the state of redemption cards. We felt it was worth sharing with all Panini America customers.

First of all, thanks to all Panini America customers for purchasing our products. We appreciate your business. Please know that your support is as vital to our success now as it’s ever been.

You should know that no one in the collecting community is as disheartened and frustrated by redemption cards as the men and women inside the Panini America offices. The people building our products are lifelong collectors who are extremely passionate – personally and professionally – and are extremely sensitive regarding issuing even one redemption card.

We have a keen understanding of the impact redemption cards have on the market as well as how our valued customers respond to them. We also are acutely aware of the challenges we face to substantially reduce redemptions in all of our products. These challenges include the increased overall demand for autographs (particularly hard-signed autographs), increased acquisition costs and longer player fulfillment timelines.

Simply, we detest redemption cards but must continue to cope with the fact that they’re something of a necessary evil.

To address the challenges we continue to face, we are in the process of revamping our card design, acquisitions and player fulfillment processes to better match the existing autograph environment. With these changes, we hope to substantially reduce the quantity of redemptions in future products. Please also note that we have always and will continue to respond to redemption requests as quickly as possible. The members of our Product Development and Customer Service teams know the instant player autographs arrive in our offices and they take action immediately to begin the fulfillment process.

Again, we sincerely appreciate your support of our products and completely understand collectors’ frustration with redemption cards. We do not take that lightly. Our vow to all of our customers is that we’ll keep working doggedly to improve the redemption process with the ultimate goal of one day eliminating them altogether.

Thanks and best regards,
Jim Dryden

Yeah, any box that has 4 guaranteed hits with 2-3 possibly being redemptions just might send up a red flag for a few people purchasing that product...ala Panini Limited FB this year.

I actually spoke to the owners of my local card shop today and they are going to ask their contact at Panini why the Redemptions are taking so long for everyone to get back. I'll let everyone know whats going on!!!!

Good its not just me. The worst part about this is that I Paid good money for the only 2010 Tino Martinez Auto Redemption and it looks like he either didn't sign or the 8 months will pass and they will send me some ****** replacement...this stinks!

Kyle, Tino did sign them as I received the redemption in the mail. I bought another one after the fact and I'm still waiting for it. Like Topps and Upper Deck, keep on them and don't let up. Hopefully eventually you'll get it.

I actually received a response from the Panini Blog guy. He told me that Panini is filled redemptions everyday to the best of their ability.

My guess is that they only have a few people working to fill these and how many can you fill a day when Hundreds are coming in every week. I'm glad to hear the Tino was signed! That makes me happy. Now I hope it comes!!!

5 people working=

1. Find card asked for or replacement...10 minutes
2. Get penny sleeve, toploader, and mailer...2 minutes
3. Write addy on mailer...1 minute
4. Seal mailer, and send it on its way...1 minute

Thats roughly 15 minutes per redemption..and you have 5 people working...That should be about roughly 100 redemptions a day :)

1. Coffee Break...10 minutes
2. Talk about there family life...30 minutes
3. Bathroom Break....5 Minutes
4. Lunch....1 hour
5. Complain about how tired they are....15 minutes
6. Bathroom Break....5 Minutes
7. Stare at the clock on the wall....15 minutes
8. Give up on redemptions because there is still another day....Last Hour of work

Sooooooo 3-3.5 Hours a day doing no work at all = 4.5-5 hours a day. Each person does like 10 redemptions (This is for Panini Redemption workers though)

Get all of your star autos in advange....This means band aid autos....so when you product is being made....the autos are there and no redemptions. The only problem would be the rookies or prospects autos. The only way to made sure you have the autos on hand.....would be to hire a local hobby store employer where the prospects lives or where he plays to get all of the auto and then ship them to company in time for production. Best regards, David
