ive been trying to figure out who might be good candidates for breakout season. im not talking about players having bounce back seasons but more former prospects who havnt had much success or the type success we pegged them for so far but are about to breakout. here are a few i was thinking off

luke hochevar- didnt have great numbers last year but did have his best year and his lowest ERA before getting hurt.

alex gordon- had a couple ho hum first seasons before being injured a majority of the last 2

felix pie- a major dissapointment for us cubbies but has put together a couple solid seasons in baltimore. possible breakout season if he can claim the full time starter job?

brooks conrad- i know hes 30 but he finally got some playing time last year and didnt do great but didnt do horrible either so possible better season with a little experience under his belt?

jeff samardzija- his last couple seasons have been terrible but he showed some promise in his rookie year and hes out of options with the cubs so its this year or bust for him. so hopefully that desperation will breed a good season kind of like players in contract years.

these are a few names i thought of i may be wrong but i think these players could finally break into their own this year.

i didnt even think of him, if he is able to get a 550-600 ab season under his belt he may have a real nice year this year.

"hes out of options with the cubs so its this year or bust for him." - uhm, that could be good news for him, thus getting him out of the Cubs organization, LOL. Just picking on the cubbies.

haha yea everyone likes to pick on us. but in all seriousness i hope he does good this year. he was electric his rookie year but they have been bouncing him back and forth between the majors and the minors and between starting and not starting so if he can make the team in a set role this year i think he could do good with a little stability

Ike Davis/Mets, Jordan Zimmermann/Nats, and Kendry Morales/Angels

i like those players but kendry broke out a couple years ago with 34 homers and 108 rbis and ike had a real nice rookie season that i think he will build on. zimmerman i think can have a nice bounceback year from tommy john.

im more talking about prospects who kind of fell off the map because they didnt come on strong like they were supposed to or struggled that will breakout this year.

felix pie definetly will have a break ou season in the outfield with nick and adam should be nice
