EBAY Sellers do you use delivery confirmation for all your shipments? why or why not? im trying to figure out if i should use them on EVERY order i send out even for cards that sell at $1-2, thanks

DC is the best way to cover your butt on ebay sales. As you may know ebay/paypal mostly favors the buyers so if you can't prove sending or arrival with a DC# be prepared to have a case opened against you & you more than likely losing it. I did see on another forum that a seller was doing free shipping in PWE but he also offered bubble mailer with DC for a $2.00 charge. In short it's best to use a BM & DC on all your sales on ebay. If you are worried about losing money on the cost of shipping set your auction/BIN prices a little higher to cover possible losses.

I only use it on things I sell that are above $15, unless something rare sells below that amount. Should there ever be an issue with an item that sells below $15, I'll refund the money. In the long run, I'll save more $$$ on the low transctions by not buying DC than I will ever pay out in claims.

thank you very much for your response, i appreciate it. do you think that $3.00 for shipping with a BM and DC is reasonable(i was thinking of raising my shipping costs from $2.00 to $3.00 but now use DC with every order)

I feel that $3.00 & under is reasonable especially when a seller offers combined shipping.

hey tim,

most of my auctions end in the $5-10 range. but ive noticed an increase in buyers asking me if i have a tracking number for their package and every single time i say no, they respond with "well, i never received my card" one person last week even told me that she will leave me negative and file a claim on ebay and paypal, so i just thought it would be easier and less drama to just refund her money back. unfortunate for me, it was a $20 sale and i was going to use DC but thought, il ljust send it because what are the chances it would get lost(as i dont have very many packages that get lost.

It cost $1.75 to ship ebay items up to 3 ounces with a DC on Paypal...I charge $2.50 for the first card, so making $0.75 for handling and getting to the PO.
I charge $2.00 here on the bench...so I am losing about $0.12 a deal.
But, 90% of the time I use DC.
Can't on Int'l.

If you charge $3 to ship, be sure to state in your description that the $3 will cover secure packaging in a bubble mailer, postage, and a tracking number. Some will balk at $3, but I am one that includes it in the overall price of the card and will bid accordingly.

Delivery Conformation only cost $0.19 if you ship through paypal. AND it is FREE on all packages shipped Priority Mail.

I'm with Rock on this one. I ship EVERYTHING through Paypal. Even deals not paid for with Paypal, for the cheap DC. Less trips to the PO as well. Put them in the box!

Thanks
Craig

i have never used paypal for shipping, how does that work? how much does it cost to ship. do you just print the labels, from paypal and everything is paid so i just drop them off at the post office without standing in line?

Correct. If you use multi order shipping you can use Paypal to ship your sales (both Ebay and Bench). It's the only way I ship now, and as a previous poster already stated Delivery Confirmation is only $0.19.

Make sure you do use it also if you ship something over 250.00 you need signature confirmation. Someone bought a card off me for 300 I asked if they wanted insurance they said no. So sent DC. they then said they never got it even though it showed shipped to address PayPal actually gave the deadbeat his funds because it was sent with no sig confirmation.

I'll ask what are probably very obvious questions, that I could look up myself.....

Do you need a scale to ship via paypal from home?

Can you print shipping labels on plain paper and tape them to the mailer? Similar to what UPS allows it's accounts to do?

Thanks,

Frank

Frank - Yes and Yes. I guess you don't have to have a scale if you are good at guessing! Stamps.com runs deals where they give you free postage and a scale. I don't know if it's worth using for the term to get the scale or not though.

Thanks
Craig

I charge no more than $2 to ship 1-3 cards. It costs only $1.75 to ship w/DC and I recycle old bubble mailers. In most cases I charge $1.75. Charging $3 is outrageous.

Thanks for the response. Where I work we have scales that I am able to use that are pretty close to what the USPS uses and probably way more accurate than a $25 scale from Wal-Mart. The downside is I have no way to connect it to the Internet.

Looks like I may have to take some of my Christmas money and pick a scale up.

Being able to print labels on plain paper is nice though.

Thanks,

Frank

I used DC everytime. I also list in my item descriptions that shipping includes bubble envelope with delivery confirmation. If the value is $100+ I ship with insurance.

Absolutely. That $0.19 for DC when using paypal saves you a lot of headaches and potentially a lot more money if someone claims to have not received. Well worth it.
