Is Sportslots any good?

Hey All!

I've seen a few folks here using Sportslots as a tradelist of sorts and was wondering how well it worked - specifically for selling. COMC is obviously backed up (and I don't need/want to pay for storage) & eBay isn't the best for managing a lot of cards.

The site looks like it hasn't been updated since it was created which isn't a great sign. Does it get a lot of traffic/use?

Thanks for any input!

You're not going to make a lot of money there. Higher priced cards don't seem to move, from what I've seen. It's mostly people selling extra base cards to set collectors for .18c a pop.

Their good for buying from one person......purchased Bowman Chrome Prospect from 2020.......14 cards all from one person.....Comc is good because you can buy from 14 different sellers for one shipping cost......but because of the problem .....shipping takes months and months. Unless you pay the fee for the problem which is extra cost. Best regards, David

Thanks for the info - I don't have a lot of high value stuff, so the lower end is exactly what I'm curious about. Not sure about the fees though, seems like you need to sell a bunch to make it worth anything. But I might give it whirl since I have some time at the holiday?

Appreciate it!

I have an open order with Sportslots at the moment. I bought 10 cards from one seller so I only had to pay 1 shipping fee. I placed my order on Nov. 14 and I got a message that they haave notified the seller. I have not gotten notice from the seller that it has shipped, but it might have, I have not received the item yet.

The price per card in general is less that COMC. On sports lot many cards are listed as NM. So I will be interested to see what I get.

I have been buying commons from the Beckett marketplace. The card prices are between sportsolt ( cheap) & COMC (higher costs). I have been happy with the Beckett marketplace. But that is like sportslot, you pay multiple shipping costs if you buy from multiple sellers.

I have also bought some cards from COMC, as they list many cards on eBay. They combine shipping.

As far the price per card, that is from limited experience buying old Topps Heritage commons. If your looking for something else, you may find things different.

I use the hell out of sportlots. Probably 15 transactions there in the last two months. Earlier this year, I bought 50 Randy Arozarena rookies for .18 each. Been doing this for years. I have thousands of rookies and at least 20 completed sets to thank them for. I plan on selling there when I retire.

As you can tell in my signature, spotlots is a great site to use for cards that linger. I often sell 100+ cards a month on there. Yes, a majority of the sales I make are $0.18, but when you pocket $75-100 a month, after fees, it's a good chunk of change to use toward set needs or to purchase for others for trades you're working on here.

It looks like Sportslot best condition on a card is NM. Of course that would mean NM or better. How have they done on condition?

My opinion is that the site is great for new stuff and an expectation on NM is that its good to go. The condition is subjective to the seller on vintage and if there is any question, you can ask for a picture from the seller if one is not provided and then make a decision. Feedback is important. I been there for 3 or 4 years and did not run across any scammers. Again, the picture request function is key for those deciding between cards or just the card it self.

I sold on sportlots for a few year...as long as people were building sets, I made decent extra $$....once that dried up, I had to call it a day. Great to buy from though

There is no lack of demand out there... I still average 2 orders a day albeit small stuff .25-$3 the mean, but its a great (another way) to trade duplicates for needs. I just take the paypal earned from cards sold (traded) to pay for cards I need (traded for).

if your interested in trading off my sportlots here is my link https://www.sportlots.com/dealers/?dealer=hitmen33

and I have built quick programs like this http://baseballcardinventory-com.securec105.ezhostingserver.com/test/xls3.cfm
so you can just update your sportlots inventory and the report pulls from there... Makes it even easier for bench people to see my traders.

Frees are a bit pricey, but you control what you sell for, so you cannot lose money. Also no subscription fees for sellers so if you dont sell, you son pay

Make sure you read about the fee structure before you start selling - I think a lot of people wait until they have a bunch of stuff uploaded before they start.
