Jealous?

Well, Let me just start off saying, I’m not crying or really complaining and I guess more Jealous than anything else but just wondering if anyone still trade anything other than Autos and Game used stuff? In my small town we have no sports card Shops so all we can get locally is retail stuff and is really hard cards to that caliber.. Lots of inserts, parallels and maybe few rookies with an rare jersey or autograph every blue moon.. Don’t get me wrong I love the higher end stuff but with my limited access very rarely pull any and its hard to trade with the lower end cards I have access to.

I'm in this club too, not by any other reason but by choice. The only bad part about staying out of the new stuff is that the trades are few and far between.

i am a collector also, if i see a really cool card with an auto or game used piece i get it but my collection is not based around them. i collect griffey jr mostly, and topps sets - regular issue complete set at christmas, opening day, traded / update, chrome if i can get ahold of them. for the big anniversaries of topps, 50th and 60th (2001 & 2011), i went all out and collected the insert sets and for the 60th i also am doing the parallel sets. as a collector i even have a collection of cards # 300, 800 because i have a history with bowling. 300 being a perfect game, and 800 being an honorable 3 game series.

The lack of low-end trading was the reason I left the last trading forum I was on, and it's part of the reason I haven't traded as much on here lately. Like you, I've noticed a slight shift towards the higher-end stuff here as well, something I've never had any interest in and never will. (Just look the title of my blog for proof. )

I'll take a lot of parallels that aren't otherwise tradable, but too many people are focused on BV equity to get past what would often work for me.

And as for access to cards, you're on the internet right now- you have access to every single product out there. If you want the higher end inserts to trade with, you have to buy hobby product, not so much retail products. Hobby boxes/packs are stacked with more inserts than retail historically.

Yes, but you have to remember not everyone has the money to buy hobby over retail. I want a hobby box of Topps Series 2, but I don't have the money to buy one. I resort to picking up a retail pack here and there, which I'm more than content with. Trading is how I get everything I need that I don't happen to pull from packs.

Hence why the "low-end" trading works better for me.

Yeah, I knew someone would come up with this!! I wasn't looking for sympathy, My quest was to find others that want to trade things other than the higher - end stuff as I don't have much in that area. I know I can buy anything on the web but my point is I can't go down to local card shop and as Hoyt55 says really don't have the Money to go sit and open hobby box after hobby box to get a few tradable cards. I agree every nine or ten post you'll see someone that want something other than the jersey and auto but in most post people are looking for just that.. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it as I said in my orginal post I love the stuff but I don't have the good to trade for it so I'll stick with what I have and try to trade for what I want..

No, I understand that everybody can't plunk down $100 for a hobby box. But I also understand that for what you put into buying retail blasters and hanger packs, if you took the sum of that money and invested in a hobby box, you are more than likely to come out with more inserts/parallels/high end to trade than just singles. And wouldn't you agree that a trade of 1 insert might garner you 5-6 commons for your sets?
I don't think that number is correct- "very 8-9 posts you'll see someone wanting other than jersey/auto" I see way more folks trying to fill out their set needs or team set needs than anything else here. I mean, Topps 2 just hit the shelves, i guarantee that by the weekend, we'll have dozens of posts from collectors trying to finish up their sets, looking to trade commons/base for base.
