Nice find. I like that kind of stuff myself, but could you actually see anyone paying anywhere near $50 for one? I was shocked to see the card when I read your post about $50BV and the auction popped up. I guess I was expecting something vintage. Maybe when they were new and "hot" people were dropping big bucks (like anything new), but that is probably a $3-5 card at best now. Still worth a buck any day.

I only see one listing on Beckett that describes the Gold cards. I have gone through multiple boxes of the two series of Action Packed from 92 and 93 and only came up with a couple of the gold cards. I have never seen one like the one in your scan. I am wondering if that is a promo of some sort. Mine is actually numbered 14G.

1992 Action Packed ASG 24K #14G Willie Mays - $50.00

Are both versions worth $50?

Terrible scan, but this is the full gold version.

I think those solid gold ones were in some sort of gold factory set? I have a football set like that somewhere in the basement i got off of QVC or one of those places back in the day...always meant to try to get them signed TTM but never got around to it.

I remember that some of the football cards in Action Packed were gold colored like the Mays scan above, but have not seen any of the baseball cards that way.

According to my 2008 SCD Catalog, both were inserted in the 1992-93 Action packed boxes, the full gold foil seemed to be numbered to 500 or 1000, but doesn't say which cards are what print run, and the 24k gold non numbered with the G prefix werenot serial #'ed. The SCD catalog has both versions valued at $7.50, with most of the other gold cards in the $2-$4 range except Mays, Ruth, Gehrig, Clemente, and Cobb.
