Rant forthcoming...

For the second time in three months I received a GU card in a PWE from a trader with perfect ratings and 300+ Bench points. The card arrived with two creases. You would think these two experienced traders would know better than to send a GU card through the postal system in a PWE, right?

Geez, I wish people had more common sense and weren't so lazy and tight. It costs $1.64 to send a card in a bubble mailer if you use PayPal's shipping service (and they pick it up for you); $1.95 if you walk into the Post Office. Now it's going to cost this trader extra money to make up for the card because he refused to ship it properly.

C'mon people, use your head!

Just curious about something how much postage did they place on the envelope and was no-machine written on the envelope.

When i mail gu/au i send in a BM and write NO MACHINE and DO NOT BEND FRAGILE and i have stamps.com cost is $1.64 with free DC

Also maybe the card had creases in it prior to shipping was the envelope damaged.

Probably cost them about 65 cent for the bubble envelope with the words handle with care on it? Sorry for your loss of the gu card. Best regards, David

There were two stamps on the PWE and nothing was written on it. If the card was damaged before it was shipped then it shouldn't have been shipped at all because nothing was mentioned in our trade discussions.

i too feel your pain.....i recently received a lovely PWE with not one but TWO gu cards in it with nothing more than half a sheet of paper to "protect" them....as you might expect , the paper didn't do it's job and both (a couple pristine rookie jersey parallels that i really needed for one of my player collections) arrived with multiple heavy through-and-through creases.....

then of course cases like the one i encountered TODAY...a deal with a new trader on here....5 cards (plus a 6th freebie)...all in a bubble mailer , but 5 of the 6 with multiple creases and bad corners ....they were in top loaders and it was rather obvious he just sent crapola....not to mention , two of the cards were described as 2007 topps home run derby cards ...naturally i assumed those were the inserts listed in my wantlist..... ummmm.... nope... just two damaged base topps subset cards....he's new (and now i'll likely never deal with him again) but it really does irritate me to have someone send me damaged material without at least TELLING me it is in bad shape....

I've been getting Postage Due packages here and there for awhile. The most was like $2 (10 or so cards in a PWE). I Usually get a "catch you next time".
Today I got one for $1.10, I'll have to go to the Post office to get this one. Sometimes the Mail lady will come to the Door and Collect Postage due.
So I will Probably be mailing This Saturday.

Forgot to mention... what's even more frustrating is that I needed the card for another trade. Now I'm going to have to go out and look for another one. Maybe I'll just ask him to buy one off eBay and then send it to me.

I hope all of you are leaving the appropriate ratings in the TM for these postage due and creased cards you are receiving. That's what the ratings system is for here at the Bench.

I believe you can refuse a postage due package. I'm pretty sure you can tape a note to it or just write on the package "refused - return to sender".

If it's an honest misteke it really sucks because you have to affix all new postage, losing whatever postage was on there originally. However, for the lazy folk, when it's THEIR wallet getting thinner they tend to learn rather quickly.

The only way you can send a GU in a PWE safely in my opinion is when its a thin card like a 2002 ud diamond connection or a little thicker like A&G relics placed in a top loader then wrapped in a magazine page or taped into the envelope preventing it from shifting. Sending a thicker card then a A&G GU is just asking for it to be damaged.

I dont make it a habit on GU but use it on 1-2 card trades when the cards dont bv much & im prepared to make things right if it gets damaged.

I was also getting those postage due notices and told my mailman the problem that post offices across the US are charging 10 different amounts for the same package (65 76 80 98 1.00 1.13 1.27 1.39). This was before the $1.64 for 3 oz upgrade. If you dont want to pay the postage due, write REFUSED on it. It gets sent back to buyer who has to pay postage. Not sure why its not sent back like this in the first place?

I'm getting that now - I've had my local PO charge me 65 cents for a bubble mailer multiple times since the last postage hike. I'm always concerned that the PO at the other end will flag the package for additional postage, but the guy at my PO assures me it'll be fine.

If anyone here has gotten a postage due package from me, please LMK.
