Here's a pair of ticket stubs to Game 3 of the 1983 World Series! Phillies lost to the Orioles in this game. HOFers Ripken, Murray, Palmer, Joe Morgan, Schmidt, Tony Perez, Rose, and Carlton all played in this game. Phillies won Game 1 and then proceeded to lose the next 4 games.

And these upper deck tickets cost $25 in 1983 which is $79 in 2024. An upper level ticket to the 2023 World Series, however, cost $400-$500.

Here's a Phillies scorecard magazine from late July 1989. It has the scorecard for a three game set against the Pirates. In the magazine, it talks about Mike Schmidt, who retired only 2 months prior, and Steve Carlton, who had his number 32 retired by the Phillies earlier that season.

But, it is interesting that there was an add for Baseball cards sold from a New Jersey card shop. Now the prices do include shipping, but $32 for a 1989 Topps Set seems high - considering that is the equivalent of $81+ today!!

Highlights include:
1989 Donruss for $37 ($93+ in today's money) - 1988 Donruss for $50 ($126+ in today's money) - 1987 Donruss for $60 ($152+ in today's money!)

I also like the comment that "Older sets are increasing in value approximately 5% per month!" Yeah right! Oh the hype of the late 80s baseball card scene!
