Hey Gang,

The hobby release dates are pretty easy to find. I was wondering if anyone knows when products hit retail shelves. I assume it is after the hobby shops, just wondering if anyone has any idea when.

Thanks,

Frank

Thanks for the repsonses. I guess if I was a local card shop I would be upset if the big boxes got their stuff first.

The LCS where I work part time, he's not real happy...............At least with Topps series 1, it doesn't hurt so bad because collectors like the better hits than the retail stuff...........................

I doubt Wal-Mart cares if hobby stores are upset. I'm sure the retail stores get their stuff a few days earlier, but as we all know the quality is lower (as well as the price) in most products.

Retail goes live about a week before hobby, at least from my past experience.

As soon as I see some 2012 Topps singles posted on ebay, I'm going to Target. :)

There's a Walmart near here that seems to be the first place cards show up; I'll be there too. :)

I agree that Wal-Mart cares very about a LCS. I am thinking of it from this standpoint:

I live in a city with 50,000+ residents and another 20,000+ within a 15 minute drive. There is not a single LCS less than 45 minutes away, that I am aware of. If I were considering opening a store(I am not) I would like to know that I would get my product first. If people only had a certain amount of money to spend on packs and wanted to get something right away and couldn't wait the two weeks, and went to Wal-Mart, I would consider that lost sales.

Perhaps I am overthinking this. I just think for the hobby it would be better if retail were after hobby releases. But that is probably why I am not the CEO of Topps, among other reasons.
