Rookie Card Determination Question?

I've been going thru some of my Topps flagship sets and I noticed something that was puzzling to me. I saw some players who appeared to have a rookie card based on stats on the back,, but no RC Logo? An example would be 2013 Topps Update Marwin Gonzalez US243. His only MLB stats were in 2012 with the Astros where he played in 80 games with 205 ABs which are his MAJ. LEA. TOTALS, yet no RC designation. Does anyone know what Topps was doing? Thanks

Ahha! I decided to check COMC and discovered that 2013 Topps Update US243 is in fact Marwin Gonzalez's RC just doesn't have the RC Logo.
Anyone know why Topps does this as it occurs with many players who have what appears to be RCs but without the RC logo designation?
