If you look at my handle, you can get an idea of how old I am. I can remember listening to the Cubs on the radio with my dad in the 40's. Anyway, my daughter sent a letter to the Cubs asking them if they would acknowledge my long time loyalty with a note to me. They not only sent me a very nice letter but also a bobblehead of Billy Williams. I do appreciate both my daughter and the Cubs for this.

That's great! Congrats on hanging in there for a long time.......My wife has been a fan since Harry joined the WGN broadcast many moons ago.......Always go to Bernie's before the game........

Great story! Gosh, is baseball on the radio even a thing anymore? So many big announcers were almost the face of MLB teams back in the day Glad the Cubs were so generous to you!

Thanks for all the replies. Must be an great household with interesting discussions between Metsman and a wife who loves baseball. Remember lots of times listening to a ball game while driving. Lots of imagination then as one could vision the play in your head. I spent around 13 years out of country and the first part of it would listen to games on Armed Forces radio.

Congrats on the gifts. You finally got the world series win. I thought that team could have been a dynasty.
Most of my family are Cubs fans. For many years the whole family would see a Cubs game. Where they live in Iowa the Cubs were the only cable game we could get. I started in the Jack Brickhouse era. And I listen to games on radio all the time. If there is a local blackout, I always find a radio station. With the internet you can find radio broadcasts for teams all over the country.
