Hard to believe that Matthews played for the Astros. But he played most of the '67 season with them and actually hit his 500th home run in a ''Stros uniform (off of Juan Marichal no less!).

I was just talking with my brother yesterday about the 1968 Tigers only having one Hall of Famer on that championship team in Al Kaline. Guess I was wrong because Matthews was also on that team. I had totally forgotten that!

True about the Tigers, but they also had several HoVGs in Bill Freehan, Norm Cash, Willie Horton, Mickey Lolich, and Denny McLain.

Lots of HoVGers" is exactly what I said to my brother last night concerning that team.

The other oddity (for lack of a better word) is that Roger Maris was on the Cardinals in that World Series. So you had 2 very famous players who were associated with other teams at the twilight of their careers on opposing teams in that classic World Series.

Autos were. Henderson, Bo , Mattingly and one with mattingly and Winfield. One Cecil Fielder, one Trammell and ventura. That's all of the 69.
