Ya, apparently Big D wasn't big enough for both teams... but I think it worked out pretty well for both of 'em. And I doubt that any of the Dallasites really cared one way or another considering the attendance to games, well, Cowboys games those first 5-6 years. They were so bad in the beginning that the public that did care wanted Tom Landry fired... instead, Clint Murchison gave him an extension on his coaching contract. One of life's little questions... what if...Interesting card! I was trying to figure out the connection between Stram and Landry besides both being HOF coaches. Landy/Lombardi or Noll and Stram?Lombardi or Madden make sense.
The one connection, and it is a big one, is both guys were head coaches in Dallas at the same time in different leagues and for brand new franchises. Landry is obviously the coach for the Dallas Cowboys and Stram was the HC for the Dallas Texans (now the Kansas City Chiefs) of the AFL in the early 60s. I wonder if they realized that when they produced this card?
I read up a little about them. Apparently Landry was offered the head coaching job of the Texans and he turned it down. So then it was offered to Stram, who had coached at Purdue when Len Dawson was there and at Miami.Ya, apparently Big D wasn't big enough for both teams... but I think it worked out pretty well for both of 'em. Two cards that are on my list to acquire are a Landry from his playing days (51 52 or 55 Bowman) and the Stram from the 60 Fleer set.I read up a little about them. A Landry Bowman would be sweet! Even though he played for New York...Two cards that are on my list to acquire are a Landry from his playing days (51 52 or 55 Bowman) and the Stram from the 60 Fleer set.
Now that's just BEASTLY!!
I can't wait to have the scratch to send in a few cards! PSA does quality work! Any news on what's going to happen to SGC since PSA bought them?

I think your squad of AP Emmitt RCs will be OK. Just keep telling them their friend went to a good home where he will be taken care of!His 15 twins really miss that card. There is actually one more 1990 Emmitt Smith that I consider a "rookie card" in my own way of viewing things. There is a 1990 Action Packed All Madden Emmitt as well. It is pictured below.
For 8 bucks (median price) there should be no reason you can't acquire it.I think your squad of AP Emmitt RCs will be OK. Just keep telling them their friend went to a good home where he will be taken care of!
As for the 90 AP All Madden card I didn't know it existed! I guess my quest isn't quite over!!
Looks like Tony Taylor had a solid career - over 2000 hits, over 1000 runs scored, 19 seasons. 2x all-star. Pretty good.
U would think so... but prior incidents have left me broke... I can't work anymore and I'm waiting to see if SSA approves my disability. They already denied my first application so I got a company full of lawyers who deal with getting people's appeal approved. I'll be helping with family bills and personal debt but every now and then I may be able to spring for an $8 card. That's alot more than I wanted to say, but I just took my afternoon meds and kinda ramble for a while afterwards. Mental diseases are no joke...For 8 bucks (median price) there should be no reason you can't acquire it.
