The first baseball cards I remember were the 1966 Topps (Yes I am old! LMAO!) which makes it one of my favorite all time sets. I love the simplicity of this set and is in my top 3 for best looking sets with 1967 and 1969 Topps. The only cards I remember earlier than the 1966 Topps were the 1965 Topps and 1965 Philadelphia football issues.
That is an awesome piece!! It is one of the last games Roberto Clemente played in as he passed away a little over two months later.View attachment 80737
1972 NLCS Pirates v. Reds........
Clemente 2B, Sangullien HR
Rose 2, 2B's, Bench 3B
Pirates 3, Reds 2, final........Not a card but I'm into collecting ephemera these days..........
I think this card is considered to be the first action shot for a baseball player's card. First because it is a very low numbered card in the set (#5 I believe) and is the first to appear when going through the 1971 set in chronological order. This does not count special subset cards like World Series or Highlights.. I was told this recently and I can't think of another action card for a baseball player's actual card. If anyone can think of an earlier action card for a player's actual card, I'd be curious to hear that.

I should have been a bit more specific. I meant an actual game action shot. I know the Reese card you are talking about but that is staged. I think 57-58 Fleer Basketball had actual game shots and I know 1961-62 Fleer did In action shots but the regular palyer cards were all posed. IE Bill Russell's regular card as well as a Russell In Action card.1953 bowman color p33 wee reese..
Love Clemente. I have said it often, but if there is such a thing as a underrated HOFer, he would be at the top of the list in my opinion.View attachment 80417
One of the greatest players of all time...........One of two inducted into the HOF one year after death.........You should read the book by David Maraniss, it's awesome; read it 3 times myself..........
Love how they paid homage to this card in 20's heritage set with Gary Sanchez in a similar action shot.
One of the most undervalued vintage cards of any sport. Can you imagine if Staubach's RC ended up in that super rare high # series? It might have booked at a couple of grand!!!
Nice item! Do you have any idea what issue this card/picture is from? I'd guess it is from a team issued set but that is only a guess.
