Is that MC Hammer with the NNO jersey? Could be...........
His Wikipedia page says he was batboy from 1973-1980 so it's a pretty safe bet that's him.Is that MC Hammer with the NNO jersey? Could be...........
That is interesting! I never noticed that before. I think this was the first Fireman/saves ldr card Topps made as I cannot think of an earlier one.Noticed today how the relievers were ranked by "Points" which was Saves + WinsView attachment 82216View attachment 82215
Three 20 game winners on a good year. So id say 3 or 4 years. That is interesting! I never noticed that before. I think this was the first Fireman/saves ldr card Topps made as I cannot think of an earlier one.
Some of these obscure leaders cards (the ones without HOFers on the front) are very interesting. The 1972 Topps AL Pitching leaders card #94 which listed the top pitchers by wins is a prime example. The front has Mickey Lolich, Vida Blue and Wilbur Wood, all prominant pitchers but not in the HOF. The back is astounding as there are 10 American League pitchers with 20 wins or more in the 1971 season. Only 2 of them are Hall of Famers (Hunter and Palmer). How many years would it take the entire MLB to produce ten 20 game winners now days?
Curiousity got the best of me so I had to look this up. Luckily baseball almanac had the number of 20 game winners by year and by league laid out perfectly.Three 20 game winners on a good year. So id say 3 or 4 years.
Frank Robinson for Milt Pappas, Jack Baldschun, and Dick Simpson? One of the most lopsided trades in history............Frank was considered "not a young 30" at the time...........View attachment 82277
I don't think F. Robby ever got the credit he was due. He's still the only player to win MVP in both leagues.
