Hard to believe that 2 future Hall of Famers played at the same time at two tiny Western New York colleges. Bob Lanier played at St. Bonaventure and Calvin Murphy played at Niagara. Murphy STILL holds the record for most points scored against Syracuse in a game with 67 or 68. There was no shot clock and no 3 pt line and to have that many points in a game back then is astounding!

Does a junk wax 9 get you any added value beyond the raw + grading fees? I think you really need a 10, no?
If you don't have something good to say, why don't you keep it to yourself. I stopped posting cards because you critisized my cards as not being worthy of this thread. I don't think you should insinuate that type of comments to our fine long standing members. Or any members.

Just to be clear... I wasn't trying to start anything with rlschles. I was just trying to match his sarcasm, as we all know, sarcasm is hard to pick up over the internet. Especially if you have a dry sense of humor. I'm not defending anything he may have said prior, but I just want to be clear and say no hard feelings are felt towards the Troy Aikman autograph comment. It's alot better than some of the guys nowadays just putting their initials! DeMarcus Ware was at a charity baseball game about a decade ago and I brought a mini helmet for him to sign. I was lucky enough to get him to sign it... but he just signed his initials and number. I'm sure he did it to save time, but it was still a bummer... anyways. I'm out this mutha!

Maybe it's a Cowboy thing! THe worst auto I've ever seen is CeeDee Lamb's. A local guy here was collecting him quite heavily and sent an autographed card into HGA and the auto came back with a 10 grade. His autograph was two side by side circles that looked like an 8 laying on its' side. But it got a 10 from HGA. geez.

Best autograph I've ever seen was Bob Gibson's That guy had beautiful hand writing!! And I'm sure if Bob Gibson ever caught me using the word "beautiful" with his name he'd give me a severe beat down!

It was an honest question. I don't grade, but I try to follow trends in the hobby by watching a few different videos on the subject, Chris Sewall in particular. It often appears that if you get an 8 on junk wax era cards, there is no added value, whereas if you get a 10, there is definitely added value. So my question was on the level. Does getting a 9 on a $10 card + $25 in grading and shipping raise the value beyond $35?
Sorry you took my comment askance.

Again, I was on the level. I was not in any way suggesting the auto is not authentic. I was just surprised by his signature, which looks like it ends with an L or a D but certainly not an N. I looked at a bunch of other autos on line - maybe he is ending his name by adding an 8.
Sorry if you took my comment askance. No disrespect intended.

That's what I'm sayin! When I was at the autograph show in Houston a while ago I noticed Bob Lilly tried taking the time to sign a nice sig. Unfortunately he had a faulty marker and the auto was horrible. You should see Michael Irvin at these shows. He practices signing on the table he's sitting at. By the end of his session it's covered in parts of his sig, his whole sig, random letters... I tried to take the sheet with me (I was the last to leave) but the people who run the event were pretty keen on what I was up to.. I saw one on eBay before I went to the show and was dumbfounded why someone would get him to sign something like that. I don't think it ever sold...
