Yes!! Getting cards in cereal boxes, magazines, and freebies from pizza franchises are some of my favorite memories! Those cards are long gone but it was just fun to get something!
I think it was in 87 M & M's has the 2 panel of cards in the 6 pk fun size packages. My buddies and I would hit the candy isle at our Kmart weekly to search for our favorites. Puckett, Joyner, Canseco, Henderson.

Oh man I can imagine that image! I think going to Texas Stadium and getting a program with those GameDay tall cards were my favorite. Those programs were $10 in/around '94 and all that was in it were ads and rosters for the teams!! Still have most of them...

Is it oddball items/sets like this that the hobby is missing now?
Since I don't collect modern day cards I had no idea there were not many (if any) food or regional issues these days. There were so many of these type issues "back in the day" that they are hard to keep track of.

My favorite oddball issues probably were the late/mid 70s Royal Crown Soda cans with baseball, football or basketball players on them. The football and especially the basketball are really hard to find as they seemed to be distributed regionally. But the baseball ones were much more plentiful and distrbuted nationally I probably have 1500 of thse cans and actually have complete sets of the 1977 and 1978 baseballs. I've got to get them out of the attic sometime but that is going to be a real Bytch (Thats B-Y-T-C-H for the countless nones of you who know that 1990's ECW reset).......to get them down from there.

I bought about 400 of these R C cans at a sports card auction in Pa. in the mid 80s and drove them 3 hours all the way back to NY with those cans rattling the entire trip.. I think I was the only one at the auction dumb enough to buy them so I got them really cheaply!!!

I used to drive around with my brothers and find those RC cans along the sides of the road or near fishing holes where fishermen just discarded them. They were light blue and easy to spot and we found a ton of them. We'd pick them up and say "GOt a Rose, a Reggie a Bench" or whomever we found. That was 1977 and 1978 when people just threw their garbage out the window.

See, I was ahead of my time cleaning up the enviornment!!

An oddball set you might be interested in is the 1982 Kelloggs Football panels. It is a little heavy on the Cowboys ( 8 panels/ 3 cards per panel) with 3 Cowboys in the 24 card set. I must have gotten mine at a flea market because I know you coudn't get them out of a cereal box.
