I cannot find out what this set is. 1993 Pro Set Power put out so many confusing update and insert sets that it is pretty understandable why they went out of business. Even Collector's Edge said they were out of control on these confusing sets. LOL They put out a lot of Emmitt cards that year but I don't see this one listed anywhere.

I know you like gold cards but if you can tell a gold card from a non gold card in 1993 Power then I have to tip my cap to you. I find them impossible to tell apart.

They're listed in Beckett as 1992-93, and on TCDb as 1992... I've got an eye for gold I guess. This here is the only Gold Power card I have. The Power Combos Gold cards are alot easier to identify because the lettering has that "Cracked Ice" look to them and they almost look yellow. My favorite Gold set is the '94 Collector's Choice. It has this kinda dull shine to it like unpolished gold. It's not overly bright like some of the cards companies put out... especially now.

I'll have to look closely at my 1993 Power cards for gold Cowboys. I have TONS of that set as well as the update/inserts from it and thankfully I acquired them in large colletion buys. I never bought a pack of that stuff .......thankfully! Matter of fact, the last packs I eer bought were in 1992 and I ain't lacking in cards because of that. LOL

I never bought a pack of that stuff .......thankfully! Matter of fact, the last packs I eer bought were in 1992 and I ain't lacking in cards because of that. LOL

In the late 80s/early 90s my brother and I used to set up in Cooperstown on Induction Weekends. We had bought a collection where someone had drawn a full beard on a 1961 Roberto Clemente. These two hilarious young guys from New Jersey came to the Induction every year and spent a ton of time at our set up keeping us entertained with their humorous banter and would buy the craziest stuff. We had put the defaced Clemente in a dollar box and when one of them found it it was ......."It's Clemente..........WITH A BEARD!". Both of them wanted it very badly and they flipped a coin to see who got this coveted card. LMAO!!

Decades later when my brother or I see a 1961 Clemente it is invariably said........"IT'S CLEMENTE.............WITH A BEARD!".

HaHa! I thought you may have gotten that card that way from a miscellaneous lot of cards or it was already damaged so you drew the glasses. The computer thing never crossed my low tech mind!

That guy was a tremendous pitcher especially in the late 60s/early 70s. He always seemed to be among the league leaders in the key pitching statistics year after year. He won 20+ games four straight years, an accomplishment that won't happen these days. I had no idea he passed away at age 60 in the early 2000s from the same cancer that took Ryne Sandberg recently.

I just picked one of those up a few weeks ago - minus the glasses.

Speaking of drawing on cards, I have a few I did that to when I was 8 or 9. Fortunately not a '61 Clemente.

I'm happy to read that other kids ruined their cards back then... I'm sure you've seen the '61/'62 Post and Topps cards my Dad glued in a scrap book. The Post cards are especially hard to look at since it seems he used a hatchet to cut them from the box. Mantle, Frank Robinson, Maris, Banks, Minosa, McCovey, Drysdale... among others... just butchered! Still wouldn't part with any of them for a million bucks each!

Very, very cool! The legendary Carrolton Park Dallas Cowboys set! These were always advertised in the back pages of the iconic weekly publication "The Sporting News" and sseing as they were a regional issue, they always intrigued me. Awesome that you got these and thanks for filling my request to post these!!

Wasn't his nickname "Manster"? I'm not 100% sure which it was.

I think one of the questionable players in this set was Staubach if my memory is correct. He had retired some years before this set was put out. That being said, his immense popularity certainly justifies adding him to the set.
