Now that is cool!! Can u show the back for us? Please! lol I just really like the lettering...Have a bunch of 1888 Kinney cards to finish off the month....
Surprisingly, Topps didn't employ an airbrush artists to fix those...No doubt. They most likely had been taken the year or two before. Topps tended to use old photos in those vintage sets. A prime example is the 1964 Topps Len Dawson card shows him in a Browns uniform even though he had not played for them in 5 or 6 years.
BTW if you don't have the 1960 Jerry Tubbs card you don't have anything. That card is the equivalent of the 1952 Topps MNantle! LOL
So the medal back is the one on the right, while the rest I believe will have the back on the left....Now that is cool!! Can u show the back for us? Please! lol I just really like the lettering...
Thanks! So freakin' cool!!So the medal back is the one on the right, while the rest I believe will have the back on the left....
Looks like you're on a roll with 1962 Topps Mantle related cards! And quite an historic one at that since it shows Maris hitting the record breaking 61 home runs in 1961.
I think that's Daniel Murphy next to Altuve........Mr. Cub killer........
Indubitably!!Fancy dress
I think that equipment is so advanced now that players feel invincible and tackle improperly and suffer these neck injuruies. Plus, the players are bigger and faster and the surfaces they play on are extremly fast so the impacts are much greater on the body. Plus the lack of contact in practices these days does not help in their tackling techique or getting their bodies ready for full speed contact. Former NFL o=lineman Mark Schlerith talked about the lack of contact in practices is why so many players get hurt these days.It amazes me how many guys' careers end too soon because of neck injuries.... I don't blame 'em though, I'd rather be able to use my legs (and other apendages) than play football.

Ya I can see all that going on. But Irvin had to retire a few years early because of a neck injury... he was being tackled, but he slammed his head into the ground. And new HOFer Sterling Sharpe had to retire early also because his neck vertebrae were basically floating without connection to each other... I see some guys (mainly RBs and TEs) wearing these new neck protective things. They're supposed to help the impact absorption when getting hit head on...I think that equipment is so advanced now that players feel invincible and tackle improperly and suffer these neck injuruies.
