i try to pick up graded frank thomas cards when i can and lately thats been quite often. but i kind of figured my offer of 32 bucks was getting steep. sure it is a graded 8 and a 1958 Topps but i didnt figure it would fetch this kind of price.

Actually there's a bunch of people that wanted it more than you and five of them thought it was worth more than $300. There must only be a couple of those out there. Better sharpen your pencil if you want that puppy ! :)

well considering i pulled out a graded 8 (1957) a few minn before this one for 30 bucks so seeing this one go for so much really threw me for a loop. guess its one of them perfect storms where the right people with the right money saw something they wanted more than i did. ah well there will be another one come through im sure of it someday.

My guess the bidders are graded card set collectors and the card in the auction was the highest graded for the particular card in the set. I know these guys pay heavy premiums for these cards.

Sounds like one of these PSA set collectors. Best regards, David PS one was high lighted as a supercollector....only PSA 8 or higher vintage sets!!

You're that losted? In the Beckett magazine.....they have articles about Supercollections....the current one is a vintage PSA Set collection and hes only getting PSA 8 graded cards or higher.

No i am not --- Lost? i dont read Becketts magazine so i was not aware of this "Article" so no i am/ was not aware of these "super" collectors.
