It's always puzzled me why he's not in the HOF, as I do think he indeed belongs. He didn't have Ernie Banks HR numbers, but he was the most dominant shortstop in the game during his day. He was also a cornerstone of the World Series Championship teams in '60 & '64, and won the league MVP in '60. Just how good was he? When he came to the majors straight out of college in '52 he was the Pirates leading hitter.
Think about that for a moment. Phil Rizzuto and *** Wee Reese are in the Hall. I hope to see a Dick Groat plaque one day in Cooperstown. It's long over due.
