Thought it would be a good topic. For me I will shoot for a bunch of sets. Trout Collection is about 450 different, the goal would be over 1000 by the end of the year. Get the Lemahieu collection over 25% of his cards, this will probably be the hardest but a good challenge. For Alonso to go over 500 different I haven't even counted in a while. There ya have it.

My collecting goal is the same as it has been for darn near 50 years...........TO GET MY COLLECTION SORTED!!!. It is something I will never accomplish though. It seems I take one step forward and two steps back in my never ending project. Realistically, probably 85% of my cards are sorted but due to the sheer amount of cards I have, it pretty much means I have a mess on my hands!

I will say if 2021 is anything like 2020 for me as far as card collecting goes, it'll be an EPIC year. I have not acquired this much quality vintage since the late70s/early 80s thanks to 2 new local/regional contacts. 2020 has been a very strange and surprisng year as it is and for me it was that way in terms of cards.

I dont really have a goal, but would like to continue making customs to give away on here. I have run completely out of wall space, and even after selling and giving a number of items away, I do still have the bug!! So, my best solution is to give items away on here, since it is still enjoyable to make them and send to get signed! So maybe I want to improve my skills and make even cooler customs, everyone seems to enjoy them, so I am happy about that!!

Joyeux Noel!!

My goal for my PC is to go through all of my sets and make sure that the sets that I show are complete are actually complete and if not to find the cards to complete them. I have sets from 1976 to 2020 so this is going to be a big challenge.

I also want to make an inventory of all of the cards I have for trade to make it easier to make trades.

Great thread DG!
Happy New Year!

Thanks Trish, I am in the process(very slowly) of making my trade list. Just when I think I made some ground I bring home 3 more boxes. So I don't know if I will ever get completely caught up.

One of my goals I will try to keep track of throughout the year. Is help people on the board complete 100 sets. I scored my first point today. Nothing is better than finishing a set no matter how big it is. So if I can make that happen 100 time that would be awesome. I think if we all should have this goal to help people out. DG

The one goal I have that realistically think I can achieve is to complete my 1972 Topps set. I am down to the last three cards. I just need the Carew, Carlton Traded and Robinson Traded. There are now two monthly shows in my area so I think I can get this one.

The other set I would like to complete is my 1964 Topps Giants set. I have always really liked the looks of those cards and only need 4 more. But I need Koufax, Clemente, Aaron and mays so this will will not be cheap. But these cards are reasonably priced (at least for now) so I think I can knock this one out also.

And the other card I would really like to find and complete my set is the 1969 Topps Deckle Jim Wynn. I have been looking for this card for a while and it just seems that I cannot find one. I did get the Joe Foy recently but the Wynn is proving top be quite elusive.

My collection is now nearly organized since I moved into the new house and I actually have a room dedicated to my collection. So for the first time since I was a kid I will have my collection organized the way I want. I spent 20 years in the US Navy and had portions of my collection in different locations but I now have it ready to be organized.

I will start to print out some needs lists for different people on The Bench so I can take those want lists with me and hopefully help some people out. I have done this plenty of times in the past but I need to organize this a little better so i bought a bigger (and more expensive) printer to help this project out a little.

Collecting goals...hadn't thought about the collection in a while, actually. Been busy with life and updating the site. When I do get back to it, though, my only goal will be to complete my 2020 A&G set. I want to finish the base, and all inserts, mini base, mini inserts, A&G minis, black border minis, gold border minis, full size relics, and mini relics. Then I just want to get as many of the autos as I can.

Geeze, now that I type it out it almost seems impossible! Haha!

Add more Pujols stuff and complete the 2020 Stadium Club Chrome Refractor set. With 400 cards it'll be a nice project for the winter months. With the current trades I've made I'm almost 20% of the way there.

Just looked the Wynn up on Ebay. Had no idea that it was that pricey.

💯

My favorite goal so far and one that I think, like you said, should be one all real collectors share. If I have something someone else needs I'll try my best to make a trade work. If not, it's always possible it just ends up going out as a freebie. I've received so many freebies for my collection through the years and I believe it's karma's way of repaying for the ones I send to others.

No doubt Mike, I have seen traders have 1 common someone needs to finish a set and they don't want to trade it because that trader didn't have something to give in return. This board need to be a place where people can go find what there are looking for without some major hassle. DG

I checked my dups for the Deckle Edge Wynn card and even though I have a lot of dups of that set, I did not have either of those short prints. Over the years it looks like whenever I get those two short printed cards I put together sets of those. I'll keep an eye out for that card though.

You know as well as I how crazy the prices are becoming when it comes to this vintage stuff. I went to a card shop on Thursday and the guy had some 1971 Topps High Numbers. he was asking over book price on them. The only card I bought was the Boog Powell. I got that one for 25.00. I thought that was a good price. But whenever I hear about how much he could get if it was graded, I decided to spend the rest of my money elsewhere. I hear all the time about supporting your local shop and such. But if you are going to charge 3 times what I can get the card at a show for then you will just have to deal with it. I understand having to pay rent and other things but I see this same guy set up at the two local shows. There are a lot of times when I think that the shop owner is his own worst enemy.

One word - organization. and downsizing. and finishing up more vintage sets. and adding to my Kirby Puckett PC. and to continue to keep my son vested in the hobby.

OK, so not one word.

Get a solid inventory and continue to help the nephew add to his trout collection and to obtain a Jackie Robinson card and add to my PC

I'd like to get a Rickey Henderson auto. They're not cheap, and I'm kinda picky. I want him in an Oakland uniform. Narrows down the possibilities. I'd also like to get a Pedro Martinez auto, and I'd love to land an OPC Schmidt rookie. Three expensive goals. LOL.
