Sealed value?

Just some opinions,
Do you treat seal circulated cards with a premium and does the screw down condition matter? Does the seal condition matter?
I have a few and mine are still are still sealed, but I am very careful how I handle them.I was wondering if I was the only one.
How can someone grade a seal card without breaking it?

They have to break the seal to grade it. I have a few Mets autos from 2005 Topps Retired that I busted out of the cases because the case was scratched and took away from the eye appeal. To me it doesn't matter wether it's in the case or not as far as value.

I was happy when they started to produce them.I feel in love with 05 Pristine,thought it was a new and great idea.I saw it as a investment years from now.
I was lucky enough to make a great trade with someone here lately.I was apprehensive because it was a sealed card but he took great care of it and that added a great premium to me personally.

We have had other threads dealing with this in the past. What I gather is that it is a personal choice. I absolutely dislike the "sealed" or "encased" cards. If the card is for my PC, I'll take it out of the sealed case. If I'm planning on trading it, I'll keep it in the case, as I have encountered some traders that do not want the card if it is not in its original case.

In my opinion, it's not a premium for a factory sealed card to be in it's case, it is a reduction of value for a card removed from the seal. However, I am mainly strict on that point for my player collection and perhaps low serial numbered cards. If there were 1000s of them sealed, having an unsealed one doesn't matter too much. If there were 5, then an unsealed one makes it 4!

I'm not going to compare apples to oranges but I still will always hold a premium to unbroken product,.

i have some sealed and some open...if i trade for one and its not a high dollar card and the case is beat up...i bust it open without a second thought....i think the whole thing is based upon the card never being handled and supposedly that makes it uncirculated and MINT...but I have seen several of these sealed that are for sure NOT MINT in any way...so...just because its sealed doesnt mean it's perfect.

I agree with mrmopar. I don't pay a premium for things as they were issued, The price I pay is based on it being that way, anything else, I start deducting. Red Man tobacco cards missing a tab, I pay less. Gold refractor peeled, I pay less. 1980-81 Topps basketball torn at the perforations, I pay less. Checklists checked, I pay less. Topps retired encased autos out of the case, I pay less. 1964 stand ups stood up, start deducting. The difference might be significant, or it may be negligible (I picked up a couple Topps retired encased autos for just under $6 for the pair, might have gone $8 if they were in the original cases)
