So, I recently bought a factory sealed 2008 SP Authentic baseball box, and was shorted one auto, and one of the two I got was a redemption. I emailed UD "customer support" asked about submitting the redemption even though it says it expired in 2010, and also asked about the missing auto. I was quickly sent a canned "no" response about expired redemptions...I sent a reply saying how I was disappointed in their blow off response, and the fact they never addressed my other question about the missing auto. I again received a canned response:

"We are sorry to hear you pulled an expired redemption card, unfortunately we cannot redeem expired MLB cards as we no longer have a license with Major League Baseball.

As for the other autograph, we offer a one year warranty on our card products, unfortunately, this product is out of its one-year warranty period.

We apologize for any inconvenience."

I figured they'd TRY to make it right? I guess I was completely wrong. They offered nothing other than a "sorry, try again".

Very disappointed in UD customer service, and I let them know that I will not be buying any more of their products.

Just wanted to pass along my experiences. It's too bad, UD used to be great.

yea i like to get them to see what they have in them for the ysl too, but the price is still to high for purchase especially when the odds of getting a redemption is involved, its just a way for them UD and Topps to rip off the consumer.

If the redemption was never available or redeemable, this would be true. But 3 years after the fact, nothing could be further from the truth. I hate redemptions just as much as anyone but that statement is just wrong.

while i have had companies (most notably topps and donruss/playoff) honor expired redemptions or replace out of season damaged items in the past , i would never EXPECT that ....as such , i must say i also side with upper deck on this one.....it's simply the chance you take gambling on old product that contained redemptions (and why you can usually pick up nice boxes at bargain prices compared to what they sold for before the redemptions expired)....

Most of what people have said is true. I understand the "risks" with buying older stuff. This shows that redemptions should either be eliminated, or have no expiration date. If they had the card available in 2008, why is it not still available???

I would have expected them to at least offer a replacement though.

In a perfect world, they would get rid of redemptions and autographs on a sticker...and SPs, parallels, refractors, game used, multiple rookie cards, retail products........then what would we have to ***** about?

Their out of the business....so their reply does not surprise me. Best regards, David

i know your right, but funny you say this because they were still knocking out baseball products last year.

on blowout cards.com they have this listed... 2011 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts Baseball Hobby 5 Box Case...

so if they are truely out of business with MLB products they shouldnt be producing products, but they are and they really should honor any redemption with some kind of product. but like everyone said its just a way to rip off us consumers. i know Topps is on two of my redemptions.

UD isn't out of business (yet), they still produce product but don't have a MLB license anymore. They produce minor league stuff and archival product without logos.

Too many doubles, cards in less than pristine shape, too easy to complete sets, can't find cards at retail stores anymore, ... whether it's true or not, they'll always have something that sucks compared to what people choose to remember.
