Yes, Doug and O'B were true Bear legends, and were very beloved in Chicago. They routinely had great guests too, I know Iron Mike was on there frequently, and always had his usual straightforward candor about the Bears, the McCaskeys, etc. Those guys did that show for a long time, and had some great success, probably motivating the team in the process! Fun memories!
I remember several years ago when the Bears got clubbed by the Packers on National TV those two were so mad that O'B called the Bears the "cubbie bears". I know he wanted to call them something a little more politically incorrect but he maintained his cool and came up with that name. LOL
O'B always had a very intimidating voice and Buffone was a bit more monotone and nasally. You could definitely tell their voices apart. I actually had thought O'B was the one who had passed away as he is several years older but it was Buffone.
And the guy who I really like listening to on that station (when it came in here) was Les Grobstein, who is an absolute walking encyclopedia of sports. Dude is amazing!

Katester, your note about Mike Singletary's eyes: he really looked like a samurai warrior, hence his nickname. That must have been intimidating for opponents, especially since quarterbacks knew that if everyone blocked the rest of the D line, Mike was still running right at you!
In the previous generation of Bears, Dick Butkus had a great stare and intimidating face, no one played the part better than he did! Of course the fact that Gale Sayers said that Butkus hit him harder in practice than anyone else ever did in a game helped people fear the Bears!
