never see 71's that nice.
If memory serves, Metsman doesn't get his cards graded which is pretty much like me. I don't get cards graded because I'm afraid to let strangers handle them out of my sight. But high grade 1971s are in HUGE demand if you get a 9 or above. There are well papered collectors that pay huge money in their quest for a 1971 set graded PSA 9 or above. And this holds true for PSA only because they have a population number for all the cards they grade so collectors know how scarce certain cards are.never see 71's that nice.
PSA lists a 9 on their site at $1150. BTST, Claude Raymond is at $1800 in a 9. Might be his zipper's down.If memory serves, Metsman doesn't get his cards graded which is pretty much like me. To illustrate this insanity my brother broke up a 1971 Topps set and found a Manny Sanguillen that he sent into PSA. He got a 9 and sold it for nearly $500. That was more than he sold his SGC 7.5 Garvey RC for Imagine what Metsman's Rich Allen would go for if it got a PSA 9? Many thousands for sure!
I actually thought the Allen would be higher but that figure is 10X high book.PSA lists a 9 on their site at $1150. BTST, Claude Raymond is at $1800 in a 9. Might be his zipper's down.
Looks like you had quite a day yresterdy at the LCS!More from my LCS pickup yesterday…
They are indeed tobacco and this one has a catalog designation of B18. They are from 1914.Looks like you had quite a day yresterdy at the LCS!
I looked this player up and he played for Detroit in 1911 to 1914 which obviously puts this item in that time frame. I've neve owned one of these but I used to see them from time to time "back in the day". They were always called "Baseball Felts" but I'm sure that is not the actual term for them. Also they were said to be used to cover cigar boxes but again, I'm not sure of the accuracy of that.
Harmon Killebrew with the Royals kills me every timeWas wondering if there's a thread of players in any sport that you just can't accept in another jersey....always enjoyed watching Jerry Rice, but in a Seahawks jersey? Makes my tummy upset....
I will complete that set if it's the last thing I do. The biggest card I needed was the Jack Kemp when he was hot due to him being on the presidential ticket as the VP. I picked that card up in the mid 90s and never did anything with that set until the last week or two. Come to find out I only needed 5 cards worth approx. $60 to complete it and the $40 Blanda is going to be here soon. I think I am a procrastinator on steroids! Geez! Here's one for today!
