Hi All,
I was helping my dad go through some old boxes. We stumbled upon what looks like a photo set of the 49ers. I see there are quite a few on eBay we are curious to know more about these. Not sure what we want to do with them yet, but if you're interested let me know. Mostly we want to know what year these are. I do not see any year listed. Is there any value? How do we know how many were in the set? See photos attached. Thanks

These are almost certainly 1959 or 1960 49er team sets that were issued by the team. If #63 is Monte Clark then I'm sure these are one of those two years. If that is indeed Monte Clark, then I can post the checklists for those two issues.

I'm certainly interested in them depending on condition. I don't have any modern cards so a trade might be difficult but we'll cross that bridge if we come to it.

Thanks for the information. Is it something that has value? Any idea how many were in the set. I have 47 which seems like an odd number.
Interestimng number as the 1960 set has 44 photos and the 1959 has 45/

Here is the checklist for the 1960 set/

https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/288901/1960-San-Francisco-49ers?PageIndex=1#17516359

and the checklist for the 1959.

https://www.tcdb.com/Checklist.cfm/sid/288900/1959-San-Francisco-49ers?PageIndex=1#17514000

I'm sure there is a slight difference in the checklists so you might be able to determine what year (or years ) you have from these. I'm not sure of thje value but I'll see what I can find out on those.

Right off the bat the first card in 1959 is Bill Atkins. He does not show up in the 1960 set so that poster may be your key in IDing these.

The name on the envelope is interesting: Franklin Mieuli & Associates........He actually was a minority owner of the 49'ers beginning in 1954 and full owner of the San Francisco Warriors.........He was also a producer in radio I believe; didn't really delve to deeply into his bio.........Seemed like an eclectic person back in his prime............Had never heard of him............

I knew that name sounded familiar. Sure enough he was the owner of the Golden State Warriors when they swept the Washington Bullets in the 1975 NBA Finals which was a huge upset and brole my heart as I was a big Bullets fan.

What I did not know is he was the main guy in buying and moving the Philadelphia Warriors to San Franciso Pretty important guy in sports history to say the least.

You'll be really happy with these BVs that TC84 found. BTW what iare the sizes of these photos 5X7 or 8X11. No mention of that on TCDB

Well, I reviewed both checklists. I do not have a complete set of either. I have a few in each. My dad thinks it's later than 1960. Is that possible? Here is what I have:
Baker, Dave
Bosley, Bruce
Brodie, John
Casey, Bernard
Christiansen, Jack
Clark, Monte
Colchico, Dan
Connor, Clyde
Connolly, Ted
Cooper, William

Lopasky, William
Magac, Mike
Mertens, Jerry

Interesting about the Billy Kilmer as this must be a seperate issue after the 1959 and 1960 sets came out. TCDB has no Billy Kilmer cards until 1962 and 1963 and none of them look like these photos.

I'm wondering if the Kilmer was from a program insert? I came across a set of these yesterday with similar/exact looking photos but these had a small 49er logo at the very top/center of the picture. The ones shown here do not have that logo. I'll try to refind that set and post it here later. That may be what the Kilmer is.

If Rburke can check his photos to see if any have that logo at the top , that may solve some of this mystery.

None of the photos I have, have that small logo.
I'm really stumped on that Kilmer. Chief Wahoo was correct about him being drafted in 1961 and he does not show up on those 1959 or 1960 checklists.

BTW what is the dimensions on these? TCDB doesn't have them listed. I figure 5x7 or 8x11.
